Atlas Genset handrails - faraway - 01-31-2014 Atlas posted some time ago a list of part numbers to be used for fine replacement handrails for the first generation Gensets. http://www.atlastrainman.com/HOLoco/tmhogenset-handrail.htm It did just try it and the new fine handrails are listed on stock and orders (e.g. mine ) are accepted. I did not find the handrails in the Trainman parts department but they will popup if you search for "genset" in the parts store. Each set of handrails sets is listed $7.95. Not a bargain but the old thick handrails need to be replaced. Re: Atlas Genset handrails - torikoos - 02-01-2014 Yes the Genset visual appearance will improve lots by just doing that. Looking forward to the transformation. Before and after pics would be great :-) I'm still contemplating getting a dynamic brake version , as soon as it is released for the California Northern. They did a CFNR version of the previous non-dynamic release (and that's incorrect, all CFNR gensets are dynamic brake versions). I don't like the Rail America colours though, but as I model the CFNR and would like to switch era from time to time, I guess it's what I need to get over ... Koos Re: Atlas Genset handrails - faraway - 02-24-2014 The handrails arrived today and I picked a BNSF engine for a test. It is better but not overwhelming. The end handrail units are composed of five parts. It takes some time to do one engine. Re: Atlas Genset handrails - torikoos - 02-25-2014 I think it does look lots better. To our eye these are both small parts, but next to an HO figure's hand, it's a difference of being able to grab hold of it ok, or almost needing two hands ;-) Koos |
