Jovyburg - michael_balcos - 02-03-2014

Hi everyone. Smile It has been a long time since I last logged in here. Currently, I'm working on a N scale layout. A blog post was made by me on this mentioned layout. If you'd like to see it, please visit http://www.bestmodelrailroadshop.com/2014/02/03/jovyburg-layout-progress/.

Have fun!

Thanks for posting this, it has been a while since you were here, welcome back Welcome . I also see where you've changed scales. Thumbsup Thumbsup

Anyway, keep us posted on what you're doing.

Re: Jovyburg - Tyson Rayles - 02-03-2014

That looks very nice.

Re: Jovyburg - michael_balcos - 02-03-2014

@ ezdays : Thanks for welcoming me back. Smile Yes, I've changed scales. It's definitely impossible (or very difficult) for me to have a HO scale layout here in Singapore. In my new N scale layout, I started with an approximately 2'x4' blue foam board. But I'm also finding it probably too ambitious. I might chop the 2'x4' board and settle with a 2'x3'. Smile

@ Tyson : Thanks for the appreciation. Smile Things like this encourage me to keep the hobby.

Re: Jovyburg - MountainMan - 02-05-2014

You've done very well within what must be strict limitations. Nice photography, too! Thumbsup

Re: Jovyburg - michael_balcos - 02-06-2014

@ MountainMan : I'm glad you like the photography. Smile I just used sunlight and our room lamp for the lighting. The camera I used for both photos and videos is the one from the iPhone 5S. My secret weapon is a tripod mount for mobile phones. Smile I was desiring more low angle photos, but that was difficult for a layout that I placed on the floor.

Re: Jovyburg - GimpLizard - 02-06-2014

Hi Michael. I have a question for you; I see you're using cord-stock buildings. (And nicely done, by the way.) Where did you get them?

Re: Jovyburg - michael_balcos - 02-06-2014

Hi GimpLizard,

Some were from http://www.illinois.gov/ihpa/Preserve/P ... treet.aspx (which give their card models for free). But they were in HO scale, so I had to rescale them to N scale. Smile

As for the others, they are from https://www.fiddlersgreen.net/shop/cate ... gland.html . I bought them several years ago. And when I bought the whole set, I was given PDFs in HO, N, and another scale I don't remember. I think if you'd go the path of buying an individual structure for them, they will also give that structure in the mentioned scales. Smile

Re: Jovyburg - GimpLizard - 02-11-2014

Ah, Thanks. I guess I should have recognized them, then. I have downloaded building from both of those sites. In fact, I'm a big Fiddler's Green fan. Especially of the aircraft models.

Thanks again.

Re: Jovyburg - michael_balcos - 06-25-2014

Hi everyone! Smile

I've just completed Jovyburg. And I ended up buying an Atlas Trainman set with an Union Pacific GP15-1. Smile I was desiring to model the 1950's, but it appears that there are better product options when modelling more modern eras. I've chosen the mid-1980's era. Smile

You can check out a video I made on the layout. You can find it here: http://www.bestmodelrailroadshop.com/small-n-scale-train-layout-jovyburg-completion-26-june-2014/

If you watch the video from YouTube, you can view it at 720p. Smile

Pictures are to follow. Smile

Re: Jovyburg - Tyson Rayles - 06-26-2014

Michael are you planning on adding people and vehicles?

Re: Jovyburg - michael_balcos - 06-26-2014

Hi Mike,

Vehicles and people will be lovely. However, I can most likely source it from the internet only. There are some hobby shops here in Singapore, but they carry few N scale products and they provide European models. I will also have to research which vehicles fit my era. But after I post some pictures on the current layout, I will be placing it on the back burner. I haven't really decided yet on what to do next.
