Weeds - Steve - 03-16-2014

I just picked up these two products from Scenic Express because I wanted to add a little color to the scrub brush/grass sections of my layout:

The backing is a very thin membrane so the clumps are very easy to separate. Glued down with some tacky glue, they give a nice punch of color and variation to my mostly green or bare areas:

Pretty good stuff  Thumbsup

Looks a lot like our front yard with weeds growing though the gravel... That's what the letter from the HOA said anyway... Eek

Re: Weeds - Green_Elite_Cab - 03-16-2014

That looks fantastic. I wish I were that good at creating that weedy dirt looking terrain found around industrial parks and railroad tracks.

Re: Weeds - ngauger - 03-16-2014

That's great! That kind of detail doesn't work in G scale, so I'll just have to enjoy your pics Thumbsup Thumbsup

Re: Weeds - e-paw - 03-16-2014

I like it.. I got to look into that stuff.

Re: Weeds - Steamtrains - 03-16-2014

That looks fantastic..!! (Why am I not surprised..??) Goldth

I'm using Woodland Scenics' bushes...They come stuck on a clear plastic sheet. I've tried picking them off the sheet but they fall apart, so I'm cutting the sheet as small around the base as I can, and gluing that to the layout. Problem is, you can see the plastic base, which kind a' spoils the effect....Any ideas on how this should be done..?? Thanks for any input...

Thank you guys...the stuff is really nice.

Gus...what is the product number?....the WS bushes I have seen pretty much cumble into "bush size" clumps.

Re: Weeds - mountaingoatgreg - 03-16-2014

Steve
I really like those bushes, I had been making my own using the woodland scenic flowers and the silflor clumps. I sprayed the clumps in the package with hair spray and sprinkled the flower over the top. I also used some Noch leaves on some of them to give them a different texture.

It really looks good, I also like you tie piles, have you seen the Monster Works Tie plates?

Re: Weeds - Mr Fixit - 03-22-2014

Where is that LPB dude with a back pack sprayer full of Round Up when you need him.
Goofing off yacking on his phone I'll bet!
I'm going to have to kick his little plastic butt for slacking off.
Letting weeds grow like that, disgraceful.

Good Help sounds like an excellent service business name, with the line; The Good Help you have been looking for!

As for that slacker LPB, things may get a little heated between us when I next run into him, letting those weeds get so big.
