Southern Pacific GP9E 3816 build - torikoos - 06-25-2015 I've just finished building another SP locomotive. It started out as a factory decorated GP9 Pennsylvania RR Lifelike Proto2000 model I bought in the late '90's , so it's probably approaching 20 years old. I stripped it, detailed it, repainted, converted it to DCC with sound, using an ESU Loksound V4 and a sugar cube speaker. All that's left to do now is some weathering, but here she is with 'factory new' paint. ![]() Thanks for looking. Koos Re: Southern Pacific GP9E 3816 build - faraway - 06-25-2015 That is a real beauty. The paint job looks excellent! Re: Southern Pacific GP9E 3816 build - torikoos - 06-25-2015 Thanks Reinhard, I'm quite pleased with the paintwork myself. There are a few details that worked out a bit coarser that I'd hoped, but I can live with it, and I also need to remind myself that this is a 20 year old shell I used, and can't really compare it with the current Genesis versions. They both still look good together though. Koos Re: Southern Pacific GP9E 3816 build - Tyson Rayles - 06-26-2015 Nice work. What does the E (GP9E) stand for? Re: Southern Pacific GP9E 3816 build - torikoos - 06-30-2015 The E suffix means it's a rebuild unit. The SP also used R , here's an explanation: http://utahrails.net/sp/sp-r8-grip.php Koos |
