Suydam warehouse rebuild - ak-milw - 08-23-2015 A guy in town was cleaning out his basement and gave this to me. It was never finished, but it is in rough shape. I will see what I can do with it. Here is how it looked when I got it. Re: Suydam warehouse rebuild - mountaingoatgreg - 08-23-2015 Andy I have always liked some of the Suydam kits. I think a lot of them would be really nice if they were updated and had some details added to them like cast windows and doors etc. I look forward to seeing what you do with the building. Re: Suydam warehouse rebuild - Ralph - 08-23-2015 Looks like a good one to me! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it! Re: Suydam warehouse rebuild - faraway - 08-23-2015 I like the shape and the proportions. Re: Suydam warehouse rebuild - ak-milw - 08-23-2015 On my layout I am going to be modeling a farmers co-op complex and they had a building just like this. Re: Suydam warehouse rebuild - lajry - 08-24-2015 If memory still serves me right those kits cab be soldered so brass shapes like tubes, angles, etc. Also think this was used for a machine shop & electrical co. being the kind of structure that was used for about anything. With only one large door doubt that it was used for a warehouse. But nothing says more large doors couldn't be added. BTW it's spelled Suydam which is now Alpine Models. Suydam kits can still be found on eBay. They also made brass interurban & street car models. Re: Suydam warehouse rebuild - ak-milw - 08-24-2015 Sorry about the spelling. It has three large doors right now. Re: Suydam warehouse rebuild - lajry - 08-24-2015 ak-milw Wrote:Sorry about the spelling. It has three large doors right now. Two more large doors on other side? And are they spaced for two freight cars? Or put a dock as long as building or longer it doesn't matter which. |
