Weekly Photo Fun 10/23 - 10/29/15 - modelsof1900 - 10-23-2015

I have written about my new brass caboose - an OMI model two or three weeks ago - and now the first replacement parts are ready for mounting. The entire brake gear is new and it was built exactly after a drawing of N&W Historical Society archive collection.

After installing the brake gear I will write about this work in own post about all the changes at this model. I must say that this work was a lot more complicated as I thought before.

Dunnville city fathers are pleased to announce new development in the downtown area, as F.W. WOOLWORTH LTD. has located at the corner of Walnut and Hunter St. (Aerial photos courtesy of Secord Air Services)

While most welcomed the new commercial outlet, a handful of residents expressed their dismay. "It's terrible", remarked banker Derwin Gates, " It only emphasises the narrowness of our city's streets. I shan't shop at that establishment.". There's not even room on the road for my bicycle!"

This news also garnered remarks from Grand Valley railroad executive Wesley Waldekker: "We're very pleased with this development. Coupled with the recent construction of the Metzger Hotel (one block north of Walnut on Hunter St. -ED.), this will allow us to complete our upgrades to Central Station's platforms and permit, finally, ballasting of our main line through this area."

Both Mr. Gates and Mr. Waldekker agreed that architect C.E. Bowyer had done a fine job overseeing the design and construction of these recently-built edifices.

The South Jersey Cruisers had their Fall Run on Saturday. Grabbed some shots of them at Reds Cafe.

The train tracks are just out of the picture behind the tree line.

Gotta love those cars and trucks...
Brougt back memories of my ol' man's '59 Mercury station wagon.
