Scratch Building a Steam Engine! - tetters - 02-25-2009 ...out of cardboard! LOL!!! My little girl has been bugging me all weeks that she wants to build a "real" train. She already wants to build a caboose and a tender (or as she said it a place for the black stuff) for her steamer. We just need to know make it is. What type of loco does this latest build look like to you guys. Tomorrow we are going to paint it and start building the other stuff. Re: Scratch Building a Steam Engine! - nomad - 02-25-2009 With that big boiler and the drivers, it could be a steam turbine Loren Re: Scratch Building a Steam Engine! - Fluesheet - 02-25-2009 I'm with 88 - an American, albeit a VERY stout one! Just realized that this could be moved to the Lower Berth area just cause it was more for laughs then anything. So if a Mod wouldn't mind relocating it there, I don't mind at all. My little girl did get a kick out of seeing her little creation on daddy's train web site though. And good for her to realize that it needs a tender (unless it's a tank engine). My avatar is my (then 4-year old) daughter's version of a certain famous blue engine from Sodor. Andrew Re: Scratch Building a Steam Engine! - RobertInOntario - 03-02-2009 Great work! My youngest son really enjoys drawing trains as well. My avatar is actually one of his creations, although I "colourized" it in Photoshop! I scanned it and added the colour. I also have one of his steam train drawings in my brief case for scanning later on as well! Maybe we could follow your example and actually build something out of cardboard as well, and add colour, etc. It's fun to have these joint projects. Rob |
