Looks like the compressor for 663 is back, so that will be going in soon.

I have not been able to get up to Scranton for any of the restoration work the last few weeks, but I have had a few pics sent to me about the progress.

The two A's are in the diesel shop coupled nose to nose. they will be shipped to North Carolina this way to help protect the paint on the noses. 664 is in tip-top shape and ready to go, 663 will be spotted over one of the cranes so that the new compressor can be installed.

Back in the paint booth the "B" is getting a few coats of paint.

Well the three girls are down in spencer for the Streamliners event. Today was the opening day, and from all that I hear everything is going well. If you check the ARHS, Steamtown, or F,E, and FA restoration Facebook page, there are plenty of pics of what's going on there. Someone even posted a video of a photo run-by that has the F-3's pulling a freight train. I wish I could have been there Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope .

We had our first work session today since the trio has returned from spencer. We did some work on the B, 663 was prepped to remove the main generator, it will be overhauled also as before the compressor is reinstalled.
Here is the empty space in front of the main generator where the compressor once lived in 663.

And 664 along with the NKP 514 pulled the Fathers day train today out of Steamtown.

With some prying and persuasion we managed to get the battery door open on the B . This probably has not been done in 20 years or so. We were surprised by how clean the batteries were. They were in need of replacement which was no surprise, but B&O was listed as the owner on the label, that we didn't understand.

I just wanted to stick this pic in here of the trio of girls being picked up at Slateford junction by the Delaware and Lackawanna to be returned to Steamtown from North Carolina.

Haven't posted here in a while, Work continues on the "B" , Basic maintainace on the A's as needed, Excursions have been running all summer with lack luster turnouts due to 663 still being down. Nothing real exciting to post about till now when I received this email from our chef mechanical officer today.

- the DL will be bringing the FA2 up to Steamtown on one of their tracks - this will allow us to work on it on weekends. Primarily we are going to work on the cab and nose area. This will be cleaning, applying rust converter, and installing cab glazing to keep the outside weather from getting in.

So it seam that we will be bringing another ''Diesel'' to Steamtown. [Image: IMG_5720.JPG]

To the best of my knowledge we will be restoring her in a LV coat of paint.

Ex- LiRR. I don't know the original number, but I can find out.

Re: 1 : 1 scale modeling - Charlie B - 10-05-2014

Thanks Steve, I can find that out in a second. I was sure that was what it was but just wondered if it might have been one that hid out of site somewhere.
I wish you guys had the sharks.

Charlie and Steve,

It's LIRR 603, and before that it was L&N 315.

The FA-2 has been moved inside and work has started on the restoration. The "B' will be moved indoors soon also so that work can resume on that as well. The Baldwin shop switcher is also nearing completion, and we have received a new toy in the form of an SW-1 built back in 1939.

The 0-6-0 has passed it boiler tests , soon she will be pulling the yard shuttle around Scranton.

514 will spend the winter getting a little TLC , the hood was removed to make this a bunch easer.

And here in the new addition to the fleet.

Re: 1 : 1 scale modeling - e-paw - 01-11-2015

With all that said, this was todays main focus.

All the body panels were removed as well as the Far air grills, they will be replaced with the older "Box weave" type. This unit is in much better shape than the "B'' was. All this took a lot less time and work.

Re: 1 : 1 scale modeling - ngauger - 01-11-2015

Re: 1 : 1 scale modeling - e-paw - 01-25-2015

Too much snow to do anything in Scranton this weekend, but here are a few shots from last weekend.

Multiple layers of paint and numbers on the fireman's side of the rear of the unit.

I removed the non standard 16 pin MU from the engineers side, a universal MU will be put into it's place.

The other side has more MU receptacles that you could ever need.

a shot of the prime mover with the steel sides removed.
