Greetings, gang.

7 headed for about 20 later on. Possibly some snow on Saturday and bitterly cold on Sunday.

Xbox finally finished updating after about 26 hours. Like I said, a v-e-r-y slow internet connection. Looking into a faster connection. Stayed home from the gym yesterday. The roads had a nice coating of ice. I did get the ice melt on the sidewalks in a timely fashion so they are all clear. Off to the grocery store this morning and the gym after that.

All stay safe.

Tom

Good morning folks

It is an unusually warm 48 going up to 50.

The wife's doctor appointment went well. The only bump is her iron levels went up but are still too low. They will test again at the next appointment and if they are still low they will do further testing to make sure there is no bleeding going on.

I added the third track at the passenger station and connected it to the other tracks. I ran a couple of test trains. Next I will either work on some of the sidings or perhaps the roadbed. I need a few ore switches but of course they are hard to find.

We have to make a run to Party City, the pharmacy, and the grocery store.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good afternoon, not much going on here, a bit more rain early this morning, but they're saying tomorrow night and New Years Eve day should be a doozy.  This is the kind of rain we usually get in February. Lots and lots of snow up north, going to be great for skiing if you can even get up that way.

Canceling the bowl game down in Tucson, the Fiesta Bowl up here is still on as of a few minutes ago. Not sure what the new year will bring, let's hope they get a handle on this pandemic thing and they don't start closing schools and businesses.

Tom, glad to see your wife is doing better, a great Christmas present for sure. Still got David, Jim and Mikey there as well.

Take care everyone and stay safe, warm and dry...

Good evening everyone.
It's been a while since I dropped in here. We had a nice day after Christmas dinner with my Brother in law and Sister in law, Daughter and one grand daughter and her beau.  It was very enjoyable and I finally got to try my sister in laws 3 bean casserole, which is now one of my favorites and will be had at least once every other week.  I like those kind of dishes, just what I call down on the farm food (Bob Evans was my wife's dad's cousin).
I installed a new CO detector in the motor home and made a brace for the table that keeps it stable and is still usable for the bed center.
I got a diesel truck cab heater to install too, the original furnace was going to cost too much to repair and this one was less than $150.  My friend installed one in his motoer home and is delighted with it, and it takes less room than the original furnace.

Prayers for everyone that we can finally find cures for all of these diseases that we have been treating.
Cheers
Charlie

I was called by the Dr. Tuesday (while the office was still closed). I now have an extended supply of pills. One leg is less swollen already.

I have just grassed an area on my wife's layout (Polar Express) which is about a 1 foot triangle in the corner. This is where a couple of controllers sit and they were starting to meld with the painted surface.

Happy New Year's Eve eve, gang

17 heading to the low 30s. Very typical winter temperature but very untypical in that there is no snow on the ground. That may change this weekend as we are predicted to get 1-2 inches of snow. However at this point there is only a 50% chance of that.

Yesterday was entertaining. I needed to pop back into Target yesterday and decided while I was there to check on the Xbox. The 4 that were on the shelf on Tuesday were gone by 9 AM on Wed. I have a feeling I was very lucky to get one. I also ordered a steering wheel for it. No word yet on when that will arrive.

Yesterday afternoon I watch a movie that should qualify for an academy award, an Emmy, a golden globe, and possibly a Nobel peace prize. It was entitled "Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death." It was at least twice as bad as the title would indicate.

All stay safe.

Tom

Good morning, good morning.... suppose to be a soggy day today, much more tomorrow and then a whole bunch of maybes all next week. Looked at three forecasts for tomorrow, 66%, 79% and 91% chance of rain, I guess each forecaster does their own calculations rather than just going to the NWS to see what they have. And yeah, they do have different "models" that show what to expect dependent on how the wind blows and a bunch of other factors, it's either that, or they are using a dart board. Icon_rolleyes

I'm suppose to meet a guy visiting here from Hawaii, the last word I got from him was that he sent a text to my cell phone... well, all he has is my landline #, I've had others send me texts to that number and as far as I know, they're still floating around in the air. Each one of my phones has a digital display on it, why can't they send a text to a landline? How about just being old fashioned and talk? I see those sending texts faster than I can dial a number, I'm not that agile, or even care to try, but I guess there are those that couldn't live without their phones anymore. So now I don't know where to meet this guy or when....

David, glad you're doing better, keep it up, it's amazing what modern medicine can do.

Have a great day everyone, and stay safe....

Don, how do you get your DR’s appointments done. Seems like they want to do a tel-a conference with you for your check up.
I saw my primary care DR the other day and she NEVER laid a hand on me!
These cell phones are a great tool, but I see some holding on to them like a life line.
Phone calls work for me.
I can type on a keyboard but texting is a no go,

Jerry, good to see you my friend.  My PCP has a bevy of PA's to deal with routine stuff, usually can get a next-day appointment with them. Want to talk with him, he's about ten weeks out. They do not do telemed or video conference there. My specialists are usually a few weeks to a month, some will do telemed or video if you ask. There is no insurance co-pay if you do video. Need to go to urgent care, make an appointment on their web site one or two days out, or check in and wait two or three hours to be seen. Need to go to the ER, unless you're bleeding profusely or having a heart attack, be prepared to sit in a hallway with 50 other people for eight hours. Guess how I know all this.... Most require masks, but that's how things were a few weeks ago, don't know what the new year will bring.

You are right about phones, I see some that can text faster than I can talk. There was a cartoon I saw the other day with two people at a table madly texting on their phones and the guy looking at them was saying, "I wonder if they know they're texting each other?" Probably truer than you'd like to think. I can send a brief text message in about five minutes as long as I don't try to spell check.

Happy New Year's Eve, gang.

25 at the moment and that's about where the thermometer will stay for today. Still calling for 1-2 inches of snow for tomorrow but the chance is up to 60% now.

Pretty quiet day yesterday. I did ask my daughter to stop by to help me with a sewing machine question. Took a total of two minutes. Fixed a nice supper for us and visited for about an hour. Very pleasant evening. Later on I decided to update another game on my new Xbox. It's twice as big as the last one - 60 GB. The 28 GB update took 26 hours so this one should take a couple of days. I will be pausing it so I can use my internet for other things and play other games on my Xbox.

I have no plans for a New year's Eve celebration. I'll probably be sound aslepp by the time the new year rolls around.

All stay safe.

Tom

RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #IX.. Stop In!!! - ezdays - 12-31-2021

Good morning and a Happy New Years Eve to you all. Like Tom, my plans have not changed over the years, in bed early and hope that the neighbors decide not to shoot off any fireworks. They may not since it's suppose to rain on and off all day today.

I did get to meet that guy from Hawaii yesterday, it's always nice to meet someone that you've only talked to on the Internet. I would like to meet more, but I don't get around that much anymore so I have to wait and hope they come here. I was planning a trip several years ago with stops along the way to see a few Internet friends including Mikey, but backed off at my wife's request. I think that was around the onset of her dementia and she no longer wanted to drive plus she was showing signs of being afraid of going anywhere new. It wasn't until her diagnosis that we realized what was going on.

Arizona State played in the Las Vegas Bowl last night and did not win. The last time that happened, they fired the coach who still had a couple of years left on his contract, so naturally, they sent him the the unemployment line with around $2,000,000 in severance pay. No wonder tuition costs are out of control....

Everyone have a fun celebration tonight, enjoy yourself and by all means, stay safe. 1990_dancing

Good morning everyone.
Tom, any chance you could update the xbox at your local library?  they usually have a faqst connection, or perhaps they have loaner hotspots you could borrow for a couple weeks. My one son gets one at his library. I don't know how fast they are but that would save tying up your connection.  I'm lucky because my connection is over 250 mb so most computer updates go fast. (I don't have an Xbox). The last game other than free cell I played was Elfbowl coded in 1998 or 1999. It runs on 10 but has glitches.

I may see what it is going to take to put the heater in the RV, then do some work in the train room.  Heck if it wasn't so wet I could mow grass  Icon_e_biggrin

           Happy New Year everyone
Charlie

Happy New Year's Eve Blue
Ahh yes in the old days this would be a wild night. Now my wife will go to bed after the 10 news and I Might stay up till the ball drops. Maybe.
Watched the Michigan State game last night, they were headed for a loss but turned the game into a win at the last few minutes. They are good at doing that.
