Good morning all, really chilly out, 56 at 8:00, tops in the mid-60's with a chance of rain this morning. It could, cloudy and damp out there. However, NWS says our snowpack is still zero, so that's a blessing. Icon_rolleyes Got a huge Organ Pipe cactus that is dropping arms (or pipes), those suckers are heavy with water. Had to chop one up this morning to get it into the trash can. Today is garbage pickup day.

Just about finished with my Christmas present project, I'm not noted for my wrapping skills, but I'll do my best. Maybe just pick up a bunch of those gift bags.

Most gas stations here are still well over $4.00, some in the mid to high $3.00 range. Lowest in the state is Tucson at $3.89. Sales of million-dollar mansions are at an all time high here, I wonder if there's any correlation. Waiting

Got a call from Geico, they are going ahead and fix my truck, total cost around $12,000 which surprised everyone seeing the amount of damage. Target date to get it back is the 23rd. I'm guessing after Christmas, but I was wrong on the estimate so we'll see....

Take care everyone, stay warm and cozy and remember, he's making a list and checking it twice, so be good as well...

hi all. was in Tucson yesterday for annual echo cartogram to check out my cow valve and boy the drivers in Tucson are getting as bad a phoenix rude and in a big rush watched a driver get on 10 cutting off two others and then weave through traffic to get off at the next exit.
stay safe Jim.

I was in to another specialist Dr. today. He added asthma to acid reflux and post-nasal drip.
I'm having problems with a cough, phlegm and breathing.
I now spend half my day dosing myself and exercising my bad leg (which isn't so bad anymore.)

I started testing some of my cars for rolling quality. One of my trains had decided that it wouldn't go up my grade that it used to go up.
I made a test ramp with some leftover WS 2% risers. Then I realised that I had a 2% grade on the layout.
I found that some cars wouldn't start on the grade; some would start and zip along for a distance on the flat. Some would start on the grade and grind to a halt on the 30" radius curve.

Good morning, coulda, woulda, shoulda, but regardless of how overcast it was all day, it did not rain. A slight chance it could today, temps in the low to mid 60's meaning that it's snowing in the high country.

Go my Christmas presents done, three more to wrap and I'm finished for the 2022 season.

We have one gas station in the county selling at $2.99 and one at $5.29, most are still over $4.00. So much disparity when most stations get their gas from the same source. We still have two Circle K stores, one at $3.45 west of the freeway, the other at $4.19 is just east on the same road. My brain just can't grasp that.

Get another shot for my back today, the first one did so well, I have hopes for this one...

Ya all have a great day.

Good morning, folks

It is 52and going up to 56.

It has been a long day already. Contractor decided to do a 5 AM concrete pour. I have been onsite since 4 AM. One nice thing was I was the only car on the road at 3:30 AM. I have a doctor’s appointment right after work. I am not sure if I am going to make it due to exhaustion. As I write this I have five and a half hours to go.

Not much got done yesterday as I knew I had to go to bed early for today. I am hoping to get some Christmas decorations done tonight and then maybe some train time.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Greetings, gang.

It's foggy and 13 on this Pearl Harbor Day. Supposed to get to the mid 30s later. Tomorrow the nasty weather comes back with rain, freezing rain, freezing drizzle, and snow. Could get up to 3" before it's all over.

Not much going on around here lately. This morning I need to make a quick trip to Menards to see if they have any ice melt. Used up the last of mine last week.

Gas down another couple pennies to $2.83 yesterday.

All stay safe.

Tom

Good morning
Fog and drizzle here in southeast Ohio.

I made a 60 mile round trip to support my local hobby shop yesterday and got some paint to touch up some cars and some clear gloss for locomotives I need to decal.  I also worked on a little bobber caboose to run behind a log train pulled by a Shay.  I was going to sell the shay but I put it on the track and like it so well I will keep it as a novelty. More work in the train room today.

     Gas was 2.95 yesterday.

So far winter weather has been tolerable but we will soon start to pay I am sure. Tom, your contractor is lucky the weather is holding, pouring concrete could be a real pain with normal winter temps.

 Cheers
 Charlie

Good morning all, chilly, mid-60's but next week is worse, looking at below 60 temps all week. Not much for rain, maybe by the weekend, who knows, certainly not those weather guessers....

Got my spine shot yesterday, worked really well for a few hours, which I think that's all it was suppose to do. Actually, it was a bunch of shots, not just one, but regardless, I think it was a positive test. Next one comes in two weeks.

That's it for now, no change in gas prices, maybe a few pennies here and there. Cannot believe the wide spread of prices from under $3.00 to close to $5.00 all within a few miles of each other. We've got kind of a monopoly anyway, we have, Circle K, QT then Fry's (Kroger), and a few Cheveron and Shell stations and that's it. Very little competition.

Have a safe and fruitful day whatever it is you do....

Greetings, gang.

Clear and cool at the moment but that will change as the day progresses. Rain, freezing rain, and snow are all scheduled to make an appearance throughout the course of the day and evening. 16 now headed for the upper 30s later.

Spectacular news form my son yesterday. My granddaughter's brain lesions have all disappeared! Thank you proton therapy! Now she will be on chemo maintenance with current check ups scheduled for 3 months rather than 6 weeks. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers while we struggled through this.

Gas price a a couple of stations jumped from $2.83 to $3.19 yesterday. Most stations around here move in lockstep so I'll be curious to see what happens. One station has tried to raise prices but others didn't go along so they dropped back to the original price.

All stay safe.

Tom

RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #IX.. Stop In!!! - ezdays - 12-09-2022

Good morning all, nothing here has changed, temps, rain, gas prices, food prices all on a level keel. Some too high, others too low.

They are working on my truck and it should be in the paint shop for primer next week. Sounds like they're a bit ahead of schedule. Now, the accident wasn't my fault and everyone agrees, but I got a call for Geico saying that the one tire has to be replaced and since there is wear on it, I will have to pay a pro-rated share of 1/3, which comes to $85. They are going to be paying around $12,000 for the repairs to make my truck whole again, why are they quibbling about the wear on a tire? I should tell them to replace it with one that has 2/3 of the tread left.

That's it for today, I've got one appointment very early and the rest of the day is all mine to do as I please. Take care everyone and have a happy weekend...

RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #IX.. Stop In!!! - FiatFan - 12-09-2022

Greetings, gang.

A little foggy this morning with about 3 inches of snow on the ground. With the temperature right at freezing the snow will be wet and heavy and will give my snow blower a good workout. I saw the neighbor out a little bit ago and his blower seemed to be handling the snow easily. With highs predicted to be above freezing for the next several days the snow probably won't last very long. Not much else to report.

All stay safe.

Tom

Greetings, gang.

Still foggy in the remote reaches of northern Iowa this morning. 32 headed for maybe 36.

Basketball and laundry are the tow main projects for today. First game at 9:15 then tow games out of town at 2 and 3 this afternoon. Otherwise a quiet weekend ahead.

All stay safe.

Tom

RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #IX.. Stop In!!! - Charlie B - 12-10-2022

Good morning.
We have a leak in the pipeline in Kansas that has shut it down. I suppose that will mean gas will go up again.
Winter storms finally hitting the mountains. They need the water that comes with the snow pack but all I have heard was the doom and gloom side. Isn't is normal for it to snow in the mountains in the winter?  Our local weather was talking about a storm later this week but they predict a wintery mix. (another name for "we haven't a clue"). They did say folks in the middle of the country should prepare for severe weather.
I didn't accomplish a thing yesterday, I just could not get enough rest and I was extremely tired but this morning I was awake at 5 AM and feeling much better. Must be some kind of bug going around.
I will do something today but I haven't decided what.
Cheers
Charlie

RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #IX.. Stop In!!! - ezdays - 12-10-2022

Good morning all, sub-zero temps outside right now, somewhere between 37 and 42, my thermometer says 43 but it never seems to coincide with those professional readings. Regardless, it's cold and won't get too much past the mid-60's today.

More stations going below $4.00 now, many in the mid $3.00. I suspect with that pipeline shut down we're due for another giant raise in gas prices. As for food prices, I should get use to eating things that others don't like, popular and necessary things like pizza, milk and eggs are way, way over the inflation rate, while other things like beet soup, sardines and tofu haven't changed much at all. Icon_rolleyes BTW, I did try one of those take home and cook pizzas from Walmart once, never again regardless of how cheap.... Nope

Like Charlie, I have no real plans today other than stopping off at the Post Office and finding something to eat.

That's it for now, hope you all enjoy the day.
