Would Pillsbury Signs work on a Grain Elevator Structure? - Trucklover - 03-16-2009

Hi guys,

I have a question for ya....

I have a few signs for Pillsbury but none for ADM. Im in the process of building the Walthers kit but i cant find my decals that came with the kit. I have some decals from the Red Wing Flour Mill Kits, they have sings for Redwing Milling Company, King Midas Flour, GOLD Medal, Pillsbury, Centennial Mills, Tri-State Milling, Robin Hood Flour, and Trisco Flour

Would any of these work for a Grain Elevator? Which one do you think would be best to be on a Grain Elevator Structure?

Is this intended to replicate a prototype elevator in a specific location, or are you just going to do something generic with a brand name. If it is generic, I'm pretty sure all of those companies that Walthers provided decals for would have grain elevators somewhere.

This is just intended to be something generic. Im trying to raise a little funds to pay some bills, so im building this that is just sitting here in my closet lol. Ill post a pic when its done, and then im going to try and sell it. if anyone is interested, ill give you guys a headsup and first dibs before it is listed on e-bay lol

I think i want to do King Midas Flour, I googled them and got a large silo structure like the one i am building right now (i made the silo structure double long)

Post pics when im done, its almost finished Misngth

Here's a couple of pics of the large Pillsbury mill in Minneapolis. No longer in operation.

They would work. Couple of prototype pictures from Mpls:

Washburn Mill in Mpls (Gold Medal Flour): http://collections.mnhs.org/visualresources/image.cfm?imageid=1914
Robin Hood Flour: http://collections.mnhs.org/visualresources/image.cfm?imageid=151257
Pillsbury Rye Mill: http://collections.mnhs.org/visualresources/image.cfm?imageid=75880

All of these had several mills.

Stein

Well, personally, I would have gone with Robin Hood Flour, but only because I remember one of their flour mills in Davenport, Iowa, where I grew up. (I actually lived in Bettendorf.)

LOL Carl, I was debating Robin Hood Flour, but i ended up doing King Midas because the sign fit better on the piece of plastic i had for it lol

Hey Josh, the mill looks great. Thumbsup

Thanks Shane Misngth

The exact measurement of the width of the silo structure is 4-5/8". So to get the diameter of one silo, divide by 2, Im horrible at math....  Icon_lol but i think its 2-5/16" for each silo?

I found an old scratchbuilt, prairie skyscraper, in a box under our club layouts benchwork, last summer. It had a Pillsbury logo on one side that was obviously cut from a package label and it looked pretty good. Don't know who built it or if its prototypically correct but it worked. Jim K.
