Canadian Atlantic Railway - Dominion Atlantic Railway subsidiary - Canadian Atlantic Railway - 09-18-2022

Here is my track plan set in the present day in Nova Scotia, Canada. My three main industries are gypsum, paper mlll and a waste to energy plant. The Canadian Atlantic Railway (CAR) is the parent company and has two subsidiaries.
Canadian Atlantic & Maine (CAM) & the Dominion Atlantic Railway (DAR). The Canadian Atlantic family is strictly a GE railway with U23B/U36B's being the core of the fleet. CAR also has a leasing arm that is strictly EMD 645 equipped unit's. More on it in another post.

This is all freelance set in the present day although the Canadian Atlantic Railway and Dominion Atlantic Railway names have been recycled.

Here are a couple U36B pictures. I went through a lot of different colors before finally settling on dark green and yellow. The CAM & DAR units will share the same paint scheme.

Very impressive Stephen. and the locomotive are well done. I like the GE locos almost as well as ALCos
We will follow along as you make progress. Thanks for sharing Applause Applause

The roster was a long and expensive process to get where it is as well. Lots of EMD's and ALCO's came and went before the GE's arrived. The U36B was a favorite of mine from the mid 80's when I read an article in Model Railroading on kitbashing them using the Athearn U33B and their MATE slugs. I actually missed out on Atlas releasing them and when I saw that they had, the search was on. I also have a couple of MATE shells from Shapeways. No progress on them but I look forward to having them paired up with the U36B's.

Nice looking plan. The locos look great. I would love to see more photos. (Shameless plug for the Weekly Photo Thread)

Thank you Tom, more pictures will be coming. It's the foam central and I really need to get some basic ground cover applied.

Don't feel bad my layout is currently the pink foam paradise. I would say that maybe 5% has ground cover.

I always wondered how freelancers make their own decals. Now I know someone to ask! (Really like the color scheme!)

RE: Canadian Atlantic Railway - Dominion Atlantic Railway subsidiary - Canadian Atlantic Railway - 09-29-2022

Thanks for the compliment @TMo I came up with a format and used Matt Welke @ Circus City decals for design and printing of my CanadianAtlanticRailway. I've also used Jim @ Highball Graphics and Bill @ PDC Design for custom work. All three are great to work with.

Aha! Figured it was probably a custom shop, but it's good to know that they're out there. I keep a pretty good stock of decals from Conrail and its predecessor railroads and the Delaware and Hudson, but like I said, I was curious how a number of freelancers get such great results. Looking forward to seeing your progress on scenery - it's good to get inspired by others work - as we get into fall I'm able to spend more time down here working.
