Ngauger's Rolling Stock Scratchbuild '24 Build Challenge - ngauger - 06-15-2024 Well, the first "Test" print didn't do so well. The challenge for this build may very well turn out to be the printing part. The upper right corner of the lower car side in the picture is where it crashed..... I'm trying again after making a few adjustments to the file.... RE: Ngauger's Rolling Stock Scratchbuild '24 Build Challenge - ngauger - 06-15-2024 And.....45 minutes later, I seemed to have solved the issue.. ![]() ![]() RE: Ngauger's Rolling Stock Scratchbuild '24 Build Challenge - jim currie - 06-16-2024 neat mike i have thought about trying 3d printing but have too many things on the plate right now, boy has been looking into to print passenger car interiors. Jim RE: Ngauger's Rolling Stock Scratchbuild '24 Build Challenge - ngauger - 06-16-2024 Jim: I've seen a few, they are really nice to make and detail (paint). It does take a lot of time and the learning curve is a bit too long ![]() RE: Ngauger's Rolling Stock Scratchbuild '24 Build Challenge - tompm - 06-16-2024 That is a big difference. 3D printing is something I wish I could do but I feel the learning curve would be too much. Yeah, after 2 years I'm still learning RE: Ngauger's Rolling Stock Scratchbuild '24 Build Challenge - ngauger - 06-27-2024 Made a bit more progress; 2 sides and 2 ends and a floor RE: Ngauger's Rolling Stock Scratchbuild '24 Build Challenge - TMo - 06-27-2024 I'm looking foward to further progress, Mikey! Keep up the good work. RE: Ngauger's Rolling Stock Scratchbuild '24 Build Challenge - ngauger - 06-29-2024 Just a quick update: I'm taking my time with this since I'm designing as I go along. This is a G, 1:20 scale Yard Cart. Proto measurements would be approximately 8 ft X 8 Ft I have yet to try to design & print the front & rear bumpers and also the coupler mount. Still thinking on the easiest way to do that. ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: Ngauger's Rolling Stock Scratchbuild '24 Build Challenge - ngauger - 07-12-2024 I finished printing the frame details: Hand brake wheel and stand 4 frame corner details 2 bumpers and 2 frame side details This is what it looks like on the 3D design/editor RE: Ngauger's Rolling Stock Scratchbuild '24 Build Challenge - Charlie B - 07-13-2024 Hi Mikey Your 3D printing is another aspect of modeling that I would pursue but I think the learning curve would be beyond my feeble brain power. You make these parts look very professional. I have thought about a laser cutter/engraver now the price is dropping but there too I am afraid of the learning curve. In the meanwhile I will sit back and enjoy these builds. Charlie RE: Ngauger's Rolling Stock Scratchbuild '24 Build Challenge - nachoman - 07-13-2024 Ooh - am excited to see where this is going! I am in the market for a 3d printer myself - so seeing how others are using theirs is quite helpful. RE: Ngauger's Rolling Stock Scratchbuild '24 Build Challenge - ngauger - 08-14-2024 I thought I posted these last week.... The undercarriage frame work RE: Ngauger's Rolling Stock Scratchbuild '24 Build Challenge - ngauger - 08-14-2024 The completed Hopper car trailing behind the "Outhouse" MOW car/Motor Unit RE: Ngauger's Rolling Stock Scratchbuild '24 Build Challenge - TMo - 08-15-2024 Ga bam! Nice work, Mikey! How did you adapt it to the truck? |
