Canadian Pacific "Holiday Train"
#1
Is anyone in the GTA planning to see this train this coming Saturday night around 5pm? I'm planning to take my family & a friend. Usually, the CPR Holiday Train comes in on a school night around 5:30pm in the west end of Toronto (and I live in the east end) -- this is anything but convenient, so we've never gone! But this year, with it being on a Saturday, should be ideal. I hear it's quite a sight.

Rob: we're thinking of seeing it. It's in Oshawa Friday night, west and Northwest Toronto on Saturday, going north to Sudbury on Sunday.
The other train will be in Hamilton Saturday, going west to London on Sunday.
Schedule:

In model railroading, there are between six and two hundred ways of performing a given task.
Most modellers can get two of them to work.

Thanks, David. Yes, my wife, two sons, plus a good friend who is in his late-80s(!) and I are planning to go. I ran into another rail-fan/colleague at my LHS the other day and he said the Holiday Train is quite spectacular. I might even have a chance to go inside the cab!! I've never been inside the cab of a modern diesel before so that would be great. Goldth Big Grin

The box car that converts into a stage plus the concert and vintage CPR coaches at the end of the train also sound great. The weather on Saturday is supposed to be good too. Maybe we'll see you there?

We're also planning to go to the Streetcar Museum/Halton County Radial Railway on Dec. 8. It's always nice to ride the streetcars this time of year in the semi-dark, etc.

The York-Durham Heritage Railway has also put on several extra Santa trains due to popular demand. They're also using their "new" heated coaches for this, that they purchased from the now defunct Guelph Junction Express. Not sure if we'll have time to do this as well though. Our local model railway club is also having an open house this weekend ... You can only fit in so many train-related events!

Cheers, Rob
