I suppose that it will be a few years until the rest of the story comes out...if ever. I certainly can understand their desire to stay silent until after she was returned to steam. Thanks for sharing the posting.

There really isn't much to the story, I know a couple of the volunteers at SRI that work very closely with the 1225 and there's not much else to be told. Not sure why everyone thinks they're hiding something. I know one thing, I met T.J. at the photo charter and he seems like a pretty straight forward guy.

I say what I say for good reason, she is a worn out locomotive that just experienced a materials failure. The neighboring tubes were in bad enough shape that they were taken out in the process. What sort of shape is the tube sheet in? What sort of shape are the other tubes in? Did they test these? Do they still have her set for 245psi, or is she now under reduced pressure? Did they find additional bad tubes and replace them? These are very interesting details, but I wouldn't answer them if I was in their shoes...at least not for a few years.

Sandberg is involved because the tubes that failed are custom order and the 261 apparently had some for their present overhaul.
