A prototype for the.... Stiesel?

For those unaware, a Stiesel is a mythical combination of a steam and diesel locomotive. These whimsical concoctions are built by modelers for the purpose of pulling special trains during club open houses. Turns out, there is a prototype for them. Check it out:

Not so mythical as you might think. Here's another one from the 1920s. The Experimental Kitson-Still Steam/Diesel Hybrid Locomotive. http://www.lner.info/locos/IC/kitson.shtml
