... Like inside of a truck cab! This guy takes it with him! I'll let the link do the talking.

Thanks for posting about this guys layout GEC.

It certainly is one of the more unusual places to have a layout and an interesting way to unwind after a long day on the road and get your model railroading fix.

Mind you that sleeper cab is pretty big although I have seen one bigger via U Tube I think and it was like a small caravan behind the cab.

I have occasionally thought about rigging up a layout inside the back of my van, and just to weird people out have the trains run around while driving and see who is paying attention on the road. 35 Icon_lol

Still a 12 volt power supply is only as far away as the front seat. MMMM food for thought. Eek train

that is really cool, I am a retired truck driver (not over the road) and have thought about all kinds of things to do but never that. one thing I have thought of is getting an older trailer like maybe an old piggy back. Build a layout in it and take it to train shows or fairs or where ever. Just a thought. Any way I like it.

Actually I think that there was an article in MR or MR Planning about a guy who did something similar by building a layout in a box trailer like that because he figured that he would have to move at some stage. His arguement was that when it came time to move all he had to do was remove the services [and a few other bits and pieces no doubt] and then just hitch up the trailer to his truck and go.

It will never be quite as simple as that of course, but the basic theory is sound as long as you have the room to park the trailer at both ends of the move. Given the prevalence of mobile homes in the US, they could provide a similar solution.
In part, both ideas would also depend upon which areas of the States you are most likely to live and work.
