Steam again in Ontario!
#1
Good news -- the South Simcoe Railway now has #136 4-4-0 in steam for most Sundays and Holiday Mondays! I hope to visit there again in the near future!

The SSR has already been operating their 4-4-0 during the past two Sundays.

Also, the 0-6-0 and an 0-4-0 at the Waterloo Central Railway (www.steam-train.org) may be operating this fall.

Great news for steam fans in Ontario.

Thanks for that info, Rob. The last time I was there, I think the 1057 was the one running, but I remember both from a '70s-era doubleheader fan trip on what was, at the time, TH&B trackage.

Thanks, Wayne -- great pics. I've heard of the steam excursions of these two steam locos -- 136 & 1057 -- back in the '70s and '60s. I believe there was another ten-wheeler that often ran with these two. I plan to visit the SSR tomorrow, actually. If all goes well, I'll come back with lots of pics.

Cheers,
Rob

That's great news! And thanks for the pics. Nice to see her in action again. Looks like you had fun... Thumbsup

815 was the other engine you might be thinking of. She teamed with 136 and 1057 for the triple-header excursion in the 1970s in Orangeville. See http://mcswiz.com/MyLayout/Triple.htm for a model of the train.

Thanks, Andrew! Yes, I think it was 815 come to think of it. I'll check that link....
