If you remember the first stop for PRR 28919 when it arrived was the car shop for some repairs

Then it went out with the local and was delivered to Gills furniture which is where it was last seen.
When delivered there it was put in line with a few other cars to wait its turn to be unloaded.
Well, C&O Clifton Forge dispatch got a call from Gills furniture asking for that car to be spotted as soon as possible, seems the delay for repairs caused a shortage of material that is on that car. So orders were cut for a special run.

Locomotive 1234 (that is a legitimate number) leaves Clifton Forge with just a caboose.

arrives at Gills hooks up to cars outside the plant preparing to make the quick switch.

Now to spot the PRR 28919 in Gills dock.

C&O saves the day.

There's quite a bit of work involved even in a simple switchlist, especially because West Egg doesn't have a runaround, and switching there is cramped anyhow.

The first task is to pull AN 5576 and get it behind the loco, since the West Egg team track is a facing point:
Now the switcher can pull the rest of the cars for the train, which will all go to trailing point spurs.

The switcher drills out the rest of the train:
The D&H hopper is from an Atlas set that I actually got for the caboose and the covered hopper. I wasn't sure what to do with a blue hopper, but I learned it was lettered that way to carry broken glass to a glass works. Then I found a broken-glass load for the car at a swap meet. I know it's going to Crosby Coal, but I don't have anything else to do with a blue hopper loaded with broken glass, so we'll all have to deal with it.

With the train made up, it leaves town, shoving the AN box.

At Drawbridge, it picks up the C&O box and sets out the MKT box at the lumberyard.

Not only are there both facing and trailing point spurs at West Egg, with no runaround, but the headroom is limited, too, so everything has to be carefully planned. The first order of business was to set the AN box out of the way on the car float track, out of sight to the left. Then I had to get the D&H hopper out of the way, too, so I've set it on the Crosby Coal spur, but won't pick up Les's hopper until I've made several more moves.

With that done, I can pull the ACL gon from the West Egg team track:

And the team track, now empty, gives me enough headroom to move the MILW and RF&P boxcars into Oswego Manufacturing:

And now I can pick up the AN box off the car float lead and shove it into the team track:

Whew! Time for a break, and then I can finally get to Les's hopper!

When a crew gets the local trick on your layout they are going to earn their pay. Smile

Well, on my layout the 16-hour law is still in effect!

Due to the lack of headroom for switching Crosby Coal, I have to leave the ACL gon in the middle of the street while I go to get Les's C&O hopper:

So I shove the D&H hopper up and couple to the C&O empty:

And then shove them both back to the West Egg Industrial Lead, leaving the C&O hopper:

And finally spot the D&H at Crosby Coal:

Then I can go back and collect the ACL gon, and we're almost ready to head back to Manhattan Transfer.

The FM shoves most of the train, pulling the ACL gon, past the West Egg depot and back toward Manhattan Transfer:
And drills the train into the yard tracks:
Meanwhile, a B&M GP7 is picking up V&O gon 2688 loaded with gears from De La Barre Tool and Die for Mike Kieran's layout:
And Les's C&O gon and V&O 2688 are ready for the car float and interchange:

Off they go!
This reminds me that I need to put the finishing touches on my float bridge.

The local is making its way back to the yard not even knowing about the special switching operation that occurred as they were still finishing the days work. The yard crew has just received the switch list for the local that is coming in in just a few minutes.

The highlighted move is a Gern covered hopper that is going to track 10 which is a train leaving tomorrow morning for Baltimore. That is the car Mike is looking for

The Gern 5620 got switched to its proper train so it can start its trip to N.Y.

Now we catch PRR 28919 as it is leaving my lay out

The Port Able Railway received their cars from the interchange. There were some interesting loads in the train. some machinery gears for the Regina Manufacturing Corporation and some Gern flux cement additive for Whist Building Supply.

Since the spur for Regina Manufacturing was overflowing, the gondola of gears was not delivered until the next day. Port Able Railway 45 tonner #2 took on the switching duties by pulling some of the outgoing cars and placed the V & O gondola as well as a Santa Fe reefer (doing a in dry service deadhead back to Los Angeles) at Regina Manufacturing.

The Gern covered hopper was then placed with a New Haven Railroad covered hopper at Whist Building Supply. If Gerrn makes the concrete 3% harder, will 3 covered hoppers make it 9% harder?

and a C&NW reefer at the siding for Nemo Fish Company.

The next day, Port Able Railway 44 tonner 114 in its Boston & Maine inspired paint scheme (former Hardazz Steel Corp. #114) picked up the Gern covered hopper
