Nice. Yes, the K-Line cars are oversize for S, by several scale feet if I remember right. Marx actually made some plastic cars that are nearly perfect for S (they're sized almost identically to the couple of postwar Flyer S gauge cars I have), but they didn't have operating doors and stuff like that. The Marx molds that K-Line used were intended to compete with Lionel O27, where length of the train was a selling point, so those cars were sized between the Lionel 6014 type cars (Baby Ruth, Bosco, etc.) and the 6464s.

I don't think K-Line ever used those cheaper Marx molds. Maybe they never had them. Those would have been a better match but probably people would have complained about the lack of operating doors.
