Translucent / Clear styrene siding
#1
Hi, I'm actually looking for corrugated translucent / clear siding material suitable for HO scale. Most industrial modern warehouses have these kind of yellowish translucent fiberglass siding. So far, my searches didn't yield any suitable results.

Any idea? I suspect I'll probably find it maybe in craft stores.

Thanks in advance!

Plastruct offers clear corrugated siding, although I haven't yet found a photo or demonstrative link. It may come tinted, too, but you could easily do that yourself if necessary.

The photo in the link to Evergreen.......There's a "Marine Railway" with a vessel on it in the upper left corner !!
Happy to see that I'm not the only one who has modeled a "Marine Railway".

Hi guys, thanks for the faster than light answers.

Looked everywhere you said before and after your comments and didn't find anything suitable in HO scale. Finally, I found some very large sheets (390mm x 290mm) from 4D Model Making Materials in UK. Corrugation is 2mm, a little bit large yet still acceptable in HO.

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://modelshop.co.uk/Shop/Item/Corrugated-clear-sheet-2-0mm-spacing/ITM4864">http://modelshop.co.uk/Shop/Item/Corrug ... ng/ITM4864</a><!-- m -->

South Eastern Finecast in UK does also them, but it's for 4mm scale, which would end up too large.

BTW, thanks for the Slater's link. I didn't know about them. They make very nice embossed sheet for a decent price.

I'll let you know if the product is worth it's price when I'll scratchbuilt my warehouse.

Thanks!

Matt the reason the siding is yellowish is from U.V exposure thanks to the Sun.
A little light weathering will produce realistic results.

You're right, I'm thinking about lightly sanding with fine sandpaper prior to apply a yellowish wash.

I received the clear corrugated plastic sheets today. It is called VIVAK. So far, so good. It is distributed by a german company called http://www.schulcz.de. They are specialized in supply for architectural scale building. Most of their material are in 1/50, 1/100 and 1/200 scales, which make then suitable for O, HO and N scales.

I'll let you know as I scratchbuilt the warehouse in the next weeks.
