I just came across this forum that has been hidden since we changed software. I even had to change the heading from "The Gauge" to "Big Blue". Shows you just how much we pay attention to these things. No wonder we never get any complaints....

Access delays getting to Big Blue

Have any of you been experiencing delays between the time you click on a link to Big Blue and when you actually get on the forum? I'm not talking a few seconds, but sometimes minutes. Packey and I have noticed that it can take minutes to get to Big Blue and sometime it results in a 500 error message and sometimes the delay is so long that we give up trying. Sometimes the access is normal, in any case, when on the forum, it appears that you can move around without delays.

We are concerned since it appears that it is a server issue and we have a few other sites on the same server that act about the same way.

Just let us know if you've seen this happen or not. It's been happening now for about a week for us.

I'm really upset about pictures.

I want to propose a change to Blue. I want linking to photos posted off site banned. Here is why. Go back through the threads and you will see that we no longer can see the progress of Ebbet's field that TeeJay had worked so hard to post, and now he is gone, We can no longer see most of Running Bears photos, We can't see CNnutbars photos, nor Deano's photos, which makes the archives of Blue more or lest severely depleted. I am sure there are many more posts that have been given the photobucket badge. The only pictures that were lost that were directly posted were due to a crash during an update and that problem has been corrected. If somehow the number of pictures for one post could be increased from 5 this would be fine with me. A few minutes posting to make a post permanent is worthwhile isn't it. I am not so sure it isn't just as fast to upload direct, all that needs to be done is to resize the pictures, and there are free programs that do that and you can keep the original size.
No one has control over the off site hosting. Once you get hooked on a site for your pictures what is to stop them from asking for a $400 extortion fee?

my friend Lutz - nickname "Schraddel" - asked me writing this post.
His account appers to be blocked, maybe after using a wrong password for three times.
He asked me if you could set his account as unblocked. His saved mail address would be correctly and he would like to receive your confirmation for further communication and posting here in forum.

Active topics - seen only with login?

I have a prpbem since a few days, maybe two or three weeks.
My standard bookmark for Big Blue is saved as search on "View aktive topics" and regulerly I'm not logged in when I use this bookmark for a fast view on new or changed topics. And so Big Blue was working all the times where I’m a member.
Since two or three weeks now I receive with identic conditions the answer “Sorry but you are not permitted to use the search system.” The reason is that I’m not logged in at this moment! After a login the search for active topics works again like all times before. However I would not be constrained to log in in order to see these active topics and I'm not lucky with the system in this present form!
Please let my know if this change is your intention or is this a small bug only together with another change of system?
I would be lucky if the old condition would be installed again, please.

Problems posting pictures

Have been having problems posting multiple pictures in the same post. I used to be able to write a text then load a picture from my computer and place them in line with the text and then continue with a text and pictures up to five photos. Now when I do this all the photos go to the top of the text and are not in order. Any suggestions?

Ability to delete a post

Sometimes I have posted an item that was incorrect or otherwise out of place. Could we have the ability to delete the complete post for a 24 hour period rather than show our stupidity to the group. Some times an edit does not give the poster enough control to remove the incorrect information. I know the old site let us delete posts for a long time, some forever. I know you can request a moderator to do it but by then my blunder is exposed to everyone and the illusion that I am perfect is shattered.

Notifications... what, again?

Just and inquiry, but is anyone getting email notifications about any new PM's? We fixed the notification issue a while back, but I've been getting notifications for things like thread subscription activity, but not when someone sends me an email. I do get the popup when I come here, just not the email. Remember, you can select whether to get them or not in your profile. If this is a common problem, I'll let Packey know and see if he can't fix it. I hate it when things like this break.

Have been trying to add this as my avatar but not being too computer savy, can't make it happen. Keeps saying it's too large. Have reduced it down to practically nothing (I think) but it still says its too large. Have been able to use the full size version on other forums.Can you help?

I uploaded a picture this morning but it does not appear in the post. (I use the upload attachment option) I am guessing it is a left over glitch from yesterday. I am glad Blue is back hanks to all that made it possible.

I'm having trouble with images linked to other off site accounts like photobucket. (in CNNutbars thread my Hometown) It just shows the "i'm loading" circle some places. 2 computers, 2 different browsers.
