The Lansing Model RR CLub has their train show this Sunday at the MSU Pavilion from 10 to 4! Over 540 vendor tables makes us Michigan's Largest train show and swap meet! There are also 8 or 9. operating layouts including a lego layout this year. Scouts in uniform and kids 12 and under get in free!

We're moving house (again) and before we do that I've decided to cut down on my rather large collection of Model Railroad, Railroad, Railroad Paper (Working TIme Tables, Employee Timetable and other interesting Railroading paperwork), and general modelling books

There are about 100 items up for sale. Some very rare.

A-B-A F3's to pull their first excursion

At the 2018 ARHS convention we will be displaying the fruits of our labors.

Our A-B-A set of Lackawanna F-3's, ( the only F-3 trio in the world ) will provide the power for their first excursion as a 3 unit set from Scranton to the Tobyhanna army depot. This is all being done to celebrate the F's 70th birthday.  Tours, photo run buy's, and a BBQ are all part of the festivities... Just read the attached mailer.
We have spent countless hours restoring and operating these units over the years and now it's time to show them off. If you have followed my 1:1 scale modeling thread you know the work that we put into these engines. Membership is not required for attendance, Or you can just chase.... I will be riding with the engine crew as the mechanic, so stop by and say hi.

Last weekend - exhibition time!

Our AMREG friends group was member of a large exhition mostly with other railroad groups and dealers on last weekend.
First time we built an large oval with an switching appendix where all modules of our friends were arranged to a large layout with dimensions of 92ft length and a wide of over 30ft.

After five hours of installation the model trains have been set onto the tracks! Ready for model train running! The railroad museum on the left and our new station Shelbyville on the right.

Again the museum a piece more behind including our station Shelbyville.

The museum again in a 3/4 view. Good to see the row of exhibited steam locomotives and an excursion train very close to the Sacramento Daylight with the SP #3000 Atlantic.

Trains are running, steam like diesel engines as motive power. The presentation of models was a good mixture over a time period from 1900 until to present time.

The new old time coal tower of Shelbyville railway museum, a need for the steam locomotives serving the historic excursion trains including locos for the switching jobs in the museum.

Hey everyone! Sorry about the late notice, but Michigan's biggest and best train show is Sunday the 13th! We have 540+ vendor tables, operating layouts in various scales, Division 5 of the NMRA doing clinics, Steam Railroading Institute (PM 1225) is back again, and more. The British Model Railroad Club of Montreal will be hosting the clubs annual open house on October 22 and 23 from 10AM - 4PM,this year. Entry is free for all and light refreshments will be available. So bring the kids and come enjoy the trains. All are welcome.

Retired engineer to speak

Madison County Historical Society
On Monday July 25, 2016 at 7pm
Retired Engineer, Maurice Lewman, to Speak

Maurice (pronounced Morris) Lewman will be the speaker at the Society Meeting on July 25th at 7pm. He is a retired railroader who started his railroad career in Markleville in 1947 as a Section Gang worker until August of 1950.

In 1950 he started firing on steam engines and then moved into the Engineer duties. He transferred to diesels and stayed there as an engineer as he worked his way on the Michigan Division From Louisville to Benton Harbor until 1981.

From 1981 to 1992 Maurice worked the Big Four Bee Line Main. He has worked for the New York Central, Penn Central and then Conrail retiring before the railroad became CSX.

Maurice said, "I had the pleasure of working with C. C. Staley and Ron Buser many times." Buser contributed the Control Board from Gridley tower to us, and Maurice donated the 1/4 scale mock up of the Baker Valve Gear on a Steam Locomotive.

The Madison County Historical Society is at 11W 11th Street in Anderson Indiana. That is the double door entry.

Geat British Train Show 2016

The Great British Train Show will be held this year, May 7 and 8, in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

Admission is $10 (Canadian) (That's about .25 American) Concessions for youngsters and families.

This is the biggest and best all-British train show in North America. *
Dealers. Layouts. Demonstrations. Used stuff.
Brampton is located at exit 348 of Hwy 401 -- approx 3.48 hours east of Detroit. Closer to Buffalo. Just the other side of the airport from Toronto.

*We wish it weren't, because we'd love to go to the other one.

Christmas Exhibit

In just two weeks (November 27th) the Madison County Historical Society, Inc., Anderson Indiana, will begin it's annual Christmas Train Exhibit. This year we have a few new prototype items to show in addition to the model railroads. We have a PRR cabin car stove on exhibit, the switch board from Gridley Tower, and an assortment of early traction materials. In addition there are an assortment of photos we have added to the walls just for your pleasure.

We have made changes to several of the layouts as well and welcome all of you to the exhibit on M-W-F from 10 to 3:30 and on Saturdays Nov 28, Dec 5 and Dec 12 from 10 to 2. Come one and come all.
