Hi!
This is my new project.
The Model Masterpieces D&RG 60' Gallows turntable in HOn3.

I will, also build the Como Roundhouse to complete the scene.
The drive for the turntable will be a step motor with full indexing. It is a system developed by a friend of mine and very fool proof!
[]

I bought this kit second hand, and it misses the spider gear housing...
I will try to make a new by 3D printing it.

This is a good plan showing how I will do the drive:

(courtesy of Carrie Creek)

I started the build by staining and adding grain to the wood. The stain is Isopropyl alcohol and wiper fluid mixed with vallejo burnt umber and black.

After it dries, I will lightly sand them to remove the fuzz.
More to come soon!

Many of our members watched in amazement as Gary's remarkable layout build - which included a purpose-built building - began to mirror the real world in an uncanny way. Statements of incredulity were quickly followed by questions on how such remarkable results were achieved in a seemingly effortless way. While Gary's models are indeed remarkable, it is his backdrops that have had the biggest impact.

Modest to a fault, Gary is convinced that anyone can replicate what he has done with some time and practice. To that end, he has put together this "how-to". Originally presented to his local club, his detailed presentation is now here at Big Blue.

It is bittersweet that we present this fantastic tutorial a year following the sudden passing of biL Marsland. Gary gives a lot of the credit for his success to biL - a life-long artist and designer - who in his short time at Big Blue inspired many, and freely gave guidance and support to Gary and all those following his many threads.

The Anthracite railroad historical society has set up shop in Scranton PA. at Steam town. I've been a member for about a year now and will be joining them in the restoration and maintenance of their equipment. This weekend will be the first work session that I will take part in, so the camera will be getting plenty of exercise. This weekends goals are to get the aria ready to repair one of the F-3a's that broke down during an excursion and start the restoration of the F-3b. It would be great to have the trio ready for next years season, but there is a lot of work to be done before then. I'll take tones of pics and keep everyone posted on the progress.

I came across this pic a few years ago. It was posted by Mike Chambers. I saved it and only recently stumbled on it again when I was cleaning out some files. I am building a farm diorama and I bought a pack of LifeLike trucks. I have way more trucks than I know what to do with, so when I saw this pic again, I got the idea to scratch build it just for the fun of it. Here is the pic titled "Red Neck Motor Home"
I am building a farm diorama and I bought a pack of LifeLike trucks. I have way more trucks than I know what to do with, so when I saw this pic again, I got the idea to scratch build it just for the fun of it. Here is the pic titled "Red Neck Motor Home"
