We have an unusual item that we're auctioning off. This item was graciously donated by Jim Currie, a long-time member here. We are auctioning off a bound volume of the 1934 January-December issues of Model Railroader Magazine. This is a rare opportunity to own this keepsake, plus being able to read though its contents. As you can see by the photos, it's in remarkably good shape given it's age, it's not mint, I doubt that anything this old is in mint condition, but this has to be one of few available, and the only one that I know of in an auction like this. We are extremely excited to be able to offer this.

Jim obviously appreciates that Big Blue is run without ads and without a sponsor. We survive by having folks like Jim around that are willing to donate either money or items of value to auction off in order to keep us running year after year. Our costs are going up every year, and we've not had a fund raiser in a very long time, thanks to your generosity with your donations and through auctions like this. Mikey and I started Big Blue ten years ago with a commitment to you that we will not take ads or sponsors to keep Big Blue going, and we've kept our promise, now we need your support to help us.

Now, let’s get started. We are offering this bound volume #1 of Model Railroader Magazine to the highest bidder. Here are the bidding rules:

There is no minimum bid but there is a reserve, the highest bidder over the reserve at the time the auction closes will get the book.

This auction is open to all members of Big Blue in good standing, (sorry spammers)...

Please keep you bid raises in increments of at least a dollar or more.

You can bid publicly by posting your bid in this thread. This thread is for bidding only; any comments or questions should be made in this thread or by PM to either ezdays or ngauger. Non-bid posts will be deleted from this thread.

If you want to enter an anonymous bid (just like the rich and famous do), you can PM either ezdays or ngauger and we will bid on your behalf, (we will post the bid amount, but keep your name confidential, just like at those big auction houses). You may also want to give us the maximum you would want to go and we’ll bid for you by adding in whatever increment you want above the last bid, up the maximum that you have set, again, just like Christie’s does for the big boys.

The auction will run for three weeks until after I've had my coffee on the morning of July 12 (around 6AM PST), at which time I will check for any last-minute bids and will announce the winner.

The successful bidder will pay all shipping costs. Remember, the book will be shipping from the USA.

Payment can be by PayPal, check or MO. We will give the winner instructions on how and where to pay.

Remember, 100% of the proceeds from this auction is to help keep Big Blue running, so we are depending on you for your support and it's nice to give something back in return. Remember also to thank Jim Currie for his generous contribution to this auction.

A few months ago we held several auctions as a way to celebrate our 10th anniversary and to help support the Big Blue Train Forums. We also said we have a few more things coming. We do, we have yet another Doctorwayne decorated HO car. We decide that we'd wait until now to present this so as those folks that were away on vacation would have an opportunity to bid. Remember, we have kept our promise of no ads and no sponsors and so, this is one way to help get the much-needed funds to keep us going, but a way to give something back in return. We're opening an auction of a hand-painted and detailed Big Blue Trains HO scale decorated boxcar. The car has been stripped, repainted in Big Blue colors, decorated in our Anniversary scheme and clear-coated. Along with the new Big Blue logo, it has the “10th Anniversary Special” lettering. Also, note that this car has a unique number that will not appear on any other Big Blue or BB&G rolling stock. We will leave any weathering to its new owner if they think it’s appropriate, or, Doctorwayne has offered to do the weathering if asked. This car, we hope, will become treasured and be a show of pride for your membership and support of the Big Blue Train Forums.

Now, let’s get started. We are offering this HO scale car BBT201910 to the highest bidder. Here are the bidding rules:

There is no minimum bid and no reserve, the highest bidder at the time the auction closes will get the car.

Please keep you bid raises in increments of at least fifty cents and preferably a dollar or more.

The auction will run until October15th, at which time we will announce the winner and ship the car to them.

The successful bidder will pay all shipping costs. Remember, the car will be shipping from Canada.

Payment can be by PayPal, check or MO. We will give the winner instructions on how and where to pay.

Remember, 100% of the proceeds from this auction is to help keep Big Blue running, so we are depending on you for your support and hope to give something back in return.

We also thank Doctorwayne for coming though for us once again. His work is second to none and there will be one lucky bidder that can add this cherished car to their collection.

Good luck to you all.

2019 auction #3: A big surprise for you O scale fans..... we have an O scale anniversary car special, we sure do----

Well folks, we are continuing our tenth anniversary celebration with yet another car decorated for this celebration. This time we have something for our O scale members. We opened as Big Blue Train Forums on December 17, 2008 and have kept our promise of no ads and no sponsors. This is one way to help get the much-needed funds to keep us going, but a way to give something back in return. We're opening an auction of a hand painted and detailed Big Blue Trains O scale decorated 40' boxcar. The car has been stripped, repainted in Big Blue colors, decorated in our Anniversary scheme and clear-coated by our own ngauger (who is really into G gauge). Along with the new Big Blue logo, it has the “10th Anniversary Special” lettering. Also, note that this car has a unique number that will not appear on any other Big Blue or BB&G rolling stock. We will leave any weathering to its new owner if they think it’s appropriate. This car, we hope, will become treasured and be a show of pride for your membership and support of the Big Blue Train Forums, even if you're not into O scale. Please note, for you non-O scale modelers, we have a few more surprises in store, but this is your chance to own a genuine Big Blue treasure regardless of what scale you model in.

Now, let’s get started. We are offering a O scale, 40’ boxcar #BBT100218 to the highest bidder. Here are the bidding rules:

There is no minimum bid and no reserve, the highest bidder at the time the auction closes will get the car.

Please keep your bid raises in increments of at least a dollar or more.

You can bid publicly by posting it in this thread. This thread is for bidding only; any comments or questions should be made in this thread by PM to either ezdays or ngauger.

If you want to enter an anonymous bid (just like the rich and famous do), you can PM either ezdays or ngauger and we will bid on your behalf, (we will post the bid amount, but keep your name confidential, just like at those big auction houses). You may also want to give us the maximum you would want to go and we’ll bid for you by adding the increment that you specify above the last bid, up the maximum that you have set, again, just like Christie’s does for the big boys.

The auction will run until July 15th, at which time we will announce the winner and ship the car to them.

The successful bidder will pay all shipping costs.

Payment can be by PayPal, check or MO. We will give the winner instructions on how and where to pay.

Remember, 100% of the proceeds from this auction is to help keep Big Blue running, so we are depending on you for your support and hope to give something back in return.

Good luck to you all.

Here's the surprise of a lifetime, remember the thread where our good friend Doctorwayne was showing us how he built these cars? Well, you didn't know at the time that he was doing it to present them at one of our Big Blue auctions. You can view the build right here, and we're posting a few pictures in this thread to keep you reminded of the awesome work that Wayne produces. We are pleased that he offered to do this for us and will certainly help to keep Big Blue running. This is a rare opportunity to own a treasured item built by one of the best modelers we have run across.

Well folks, this is the kickoff to our tenth anniversary celebration. We opened as Big Blue Train Forums on December 17, 2008 and have kept our promise of no ads and no sponsors. This is one way to help get the much-needed funds to keep us going, but a way to give something back in return. Also, note that this car has a unique number that will not appear on any other Big Blue or BB&G rolling stock. We will leave any weathering to its new owner if they think it’s appropriate. This car, we hope, will become treasured and be a show of pride for your membership and support of the Big Blue Train Forums, even if you're not into N scale. The car features sliding doors, magnetic truck-mounted couplers and a weight of 1.1 oz, thanks to the load of steel as can be seen in the photos.

Please note, for you non-N scale modelers, we have a few surprises in store, but this is your chance to own a genuine Big Blue N scale treasure regardless of what scale you model in.

Well folks, this is it, this is the last of our original anniversary cars to be put up for auction. It’s hard to believe that we’re now into our fifth anniversary and we a still dealing with cars from out second one. Our plan was to auction off these anniversary cars over time, some were on tours, others were not. We are at the end and have the last N scale original anniversary car. Make no mistake; this is the last one that we will be auctioning off, so if you want one, this is the time to bid. This one is for an N scale, 40’ boxcar #BBG 100100 as pictured below. It has been decorated by Sumpter250, but was not part of a tour, . The car has been stripped, repainted in BB&G colors, decorated in our Anniversary scheme and clear-coated. Along with the BB&G herald, it has the “Anniversary Special” lettering. The build plaque shows a build date of 12-01 (when the original Gauge was started) and a rebuild date of 12-08 (the rebirth of The-Gauge as Big Blue). Those are the dates that make up our 10th and 2nd anniversaries. Also, note that this car has a unique number that will not appear on any other BB&G rolling stock. We will leave any weathering to its new owner if they think it’s appropriate. This car, we hope, will become treasured and be a show of pride for your membership and support of the Big Blue Train Forums.

Note that the winning bidder of this car will receive, along with the car, a certificate of authenticity signed by the person that decorated it.

Now, let’s get started. We are offering N scale, 40’ boxcar #BBG 100100 to the highest bidder. Here are the bidding rules:

There is no minimum bid and no reserve, the highest bidder at the time the auction closes will get the car.

Please keep you bid raises in increments of at least fifty cents and preferably a dollar or more.

You can bid publicly by posting it in this thread.

You may also want to give us the maximum you would want to go and we’ll bid for you by adding one dollar above the last bid, up the maximum that you have set, again, just like Christie’s does for the big boys.

The auction will run until December 31st, at which time we will announce the winner and ship the car to them.

The successful bidder will pay all shipping costs. That cost is estimated to be under $5.00US.

Payment can be by PayPal, check or MO. We will give the winner instructions on how and where to pay.

Remember, 100% of the proceeds from this auction is to help keep Big Blue running, so we are depending on you for your support and hope to give something back in return.

Good luck to you all.

This is the fourth auction in the series that we’ve been presenting thru out the year. It is for a caboose as pictured below. It is one of the “Tracks Ahead” series offered by PBS. This car was generously donated by Mike Goad (Tyson Rayles) in anticipation that it will help in the fund raising effort that is need to support Big Blue. There is just one thing has been changed from the original, the BB&G logo has been added to make it even more of a collector’s car than it already was.
This is the second auction in the series that we’ve been talking about. It is for a 40’ gondola car as pictured below. It is one of the “Tracks Ahead” series offered by PBS. This car was generously donated by Mike Goad (Tyson Rayles) in anticipation that it will help in the fund raising effort that is need to support Big Blue. This car, we hope, will become treasured and be a show of pride for your membership and support of the Big Blue Train Forums. The winning bidder of this car will receive, along with the car, a certificate of authenticity to document that it came from Big Blue. .

Please note that we are also auctioning off a Big Blue HO scale anniversary car at this time in another thread. Bid on one or both if you like.

Now, let’s get started. We are offering this car to the highest bidder. Here are the bidding rules:

There is no minimum bid and no reserve, the highest bidder at the time the auction closes will get the car.

Please keep you bid raises in increments of at least fifty cents and preferably a dollar or more.

You can bid publicly by posting it in this thread. Non-bid posts will be deleted from this thread.

If you want to enter an anonymous bid (just like the rich and famous do), you can PM either ezdays or ngauger and we will bid on your behalf, (we will post the bid amount, but keep your name confidential, just like at those big auction houses). You may also want to give us the maximum you would want to go and we’ll bid for you by adding one dollar above the last bid, up the maximum that you have set, again, just like Christie’s does for the big boys.

The auction will run for three weeks and will close at noon EST on June 3, at which time we will announce the winner and ship the car to them.

The successful bidder will pay all shipping costs. That cost is estimated to be under $5.00US.

Payment can be by PayPal, check or MO. We will give the winner instructions on how and where to pay.

Good luck to you all.

Well, finally, we are going to start the first auction of a series of auctions that we’ve been talking about. This one is for an HO, 50’ boxcar as pictured below and decorated by Sumpter250.

We auctioned off several other HO and N scale anniversary cars during our anniversary celebration, but we saved a few to be auctioned off at this time. The winning bidder of any of the anniversary cars will receive, along with the car, a certificate of authenticity signed by the person that decorated it .

We have been teasing around that there will be a couple of auctions coming up soon. We have several N and HO scale boxcars that we’ve held back from our anniversary celebration a while back. Some were decorated by Sumpter250 and some by myself, ezdays. We also have two N scale “Tracks Ahead” cars that have been donated by our good friend, Tyson Rayles that we will include as well. The plan is to auction them off two at a time, but in separate auction threads. That way you can bid on one or the other, or both cars that are being offered at that time.

As we've said before, our commitment to you is to keep these forums free from advertising and sponsors. 100% of the proceeds from these auctions will go to support Big Blue and help us keep that commitment. You have been generous in the past with you donations, participating in our auctions and other fund raisers from time to time, and we appreciate it beyond words; and so we ask you to be generous when bidding once again.

To start with you will be bidding on some rare Big Blue 10/2 year anniversary cars as well as some limited run TA collector cars which have been run on Tyson Rayles’ layout. We will include a certificate of authenticity with each car so you will know where and who it came from.

Keep you eyes open for these auction threads; the first two will open sometime around May 15. We will also announce the rules for each auction as we go.

Good luck everyone, and remember, sky's the limit when bidding.
