Re: BOeC layout - River Witch 14 - 01-02-2015 MLW-nicely done.I really like the weathering on the short freight train. Re: BOeC layout - MLW - 01-04-2015 Hi Bruce. Thanks! Yes it is a combination or blending of various scenery products and method, backdrops, rolling stock etc. Thank you MountainMan. Very kind. dgaken. Thank you. In the era I am modelling (1988-ish to 1995-ish) VIA has quite the divers fleet Engfanuk thank you! I am lucky to have a bit of room for sure (12.5 feet X 25.5 feet) Thank you River Witch 14. There's more "in the shop" in progress. . Re: BOeC layout - MLW - 01-04-2015 . For something different… ”Racing a VIA F40 between St-Hyacinthe and Drummondville”. On my drive from Montreal to Quebec City I ran into (or more correctly “parallel to”) an eastbound VIA rail passenger train. It consit of a F40PH-2D loco that looks like it was fresh out of the shop, 2 LRC car and 2 bud stainless cars. I caught up with it at St-Hyacinthe which contrary to the norm it did not stop and kept going. However I managed to snap a few, blurry, pictures. The vintage point wasn’t the best block by freight cars on the other side of the station. Barely had time to take a few pictures when I heard it coming! Of course I just kept my finger on the trigger…….. and in less time it took to type this: it was gone!! Re: BOeC layout - MLW - 01-04-2015 . So I drove towards the bridge over the Yamaska river which parallel the RR bridge ( secondary highway 116) and stopped quickly by the recycling plant/warehouse beforehand hoping to catch a glimpse of it. I Just made it....... As it disappeared in a wind storm.. Re: BOeC layout - MLW - 01-04-2015 . Made it to the bridge but no good vantage point due to traffic. Got lucky with one fleeting shot has it exit the Yamaska double track railroad bridge. Re: BOeC layout - MLW - 01-04-2015 . Time to move on to Ste-Rosalie where highway 116 parallels the track for quite a distance. Hopefully I'll catch up to it.... Re: BOeC layout - MLW - 01-04-2015 ...no CN freight in sight, no VIA either.. Re: BOeC layout - Canadian Atlantic Railway - 01-04-2015 Nice to see VIA in action! Re: BOeC layout - MLW - 01-04-2015 Thanks Railnet Re: BOeC layout - MLW - 01-04-2015 . leaving traffic behind on this 4 lanes boulevard / highway I caught up with it at the Seigneurie crossing. With my luck still holding, it slowed down significantly most likely on a slow order since I passed it quickly. I saw smoke coming out the exhaust and it picked up speed again and caught up with me. Enough time to snap a last picture before we parted ways (the tracks no longer parallel the highway) Hoping to meet up again before Drummondville... Re: BOeC layout - MLW - 01-04-2015 . Driving towards Drummondville I noticed quite a few CN freight (grain, boxcars, flatcar, general freight etc.) heading westbound. Keeping my fingers crossed since this would normally slow down the eastbound VIA. Here’s hoping. I stopped at Bois D’Arcy for a quick snack across the “rue industriel” camera at the ready hoping to see something. So I waited... and waited... Re: BOeC layout - MLW - 01-04-2015 I was about to leave when I heard the prime mover echoing under the highway overpass. Followed soon therafter with the grade crossing bells ringing loudly and there it went! Re: BOeC layout - MLW - 01-04-2015 . I should have looked at the signal bridge earlier. The “all red” aspect must have been on for quite a while and that would have told me to get ready! I kept my finger on the trigger and snapped away Re: BOeC layout - MLW - 01-04-2015 . And that was that. Next stop Drummondville… Re: BOeC layout - MLW - 01-04-2015 . Arrived in Drummondville and I was thankfull to CN for having delay its entry , when it was put in a siding, into town. I had time to sneak by the station platform and take some pictures as it slow down to a stop at the station. Overall picture of it about to depart Drummondville eastward to Quebec City |
