It sure is Ralph. Some of those scenes were set up by PC. They had to retake a couple of them because the cars were not derailing. I found this on a website and never knew this happened.

Penn Central management created a holding company, the Penn Central Company, and tried to diversify the troubled firm into real estate and other non-railroad ventures, but in a slow economy these businesses performed little better than the railroad assets. In addition, these new subsidiaries diverted management attention away from the problems in the core business. To make matters worse, management insisted on paying dividends to shareholders to create the illusion of success. The company had to borrow more and more to keep operating. The interest on the loans became an unbearable financial burden.

Now do you think if they wouldn't have done this that the Penn Central could have survived? I sure would have liked to see this railroad running up and down the mountain. But what can you do?

I just found this and thought it was interesting. Don't mean to damper anyone. BTW I will post the pictures I have of the PC that my dad took. I did post them on the other forum but I know you guys will enjoy seeing them again. LOL

Here is a gondola with the red P. You can clearly tell in the picture even though it is black and white.

Here is a link to a video from July 1999. Read what the person has wrote on the side and watch CR #8117.

Charlie B Wrote:If I had to pick another era to model, I think it would have to be Conrail Apr 1976, to 1979, with all the different motive power and rolling stock. I saw so many things many of which I didn't get pictures. This consist is a good example. Everything is gone now, including the "BUCKEYE" crossover.

An interestingly different take on a familiar color mismatch. What I first thought was a Reading unit is Precision National! Not used to seeing those on early Conrail, but should've expected it, considering the other power they leased.

Found a different picture of a PC Locomotive. It is a FL9 #5020. Here is the link: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... id=1028835

Now this sure is a different color I must say.

Yep! That's the high visibility safety scheme for the metro commuter trains. Quite a departure from the usual dipped black scheme...huh? Smile I made a model of one of those with the yellow letters and logo faded to white which is prototypical. Apparently the yellow faded over time on some units.

I've seen a trailer just like that in Westampton/Willingboro, NJ, along with an Old Chessie system one in and around Mt Holly.

Re: PC Photo - LiveSteamer - 05-21-2010

Ok i got something to share. Last week or so I was just watching out the window and i seen these green grain cars in a consist. Sure enough they were old Penn Central grain hoppers. Got pictures but I dont have them with me.
