Charlie,

Have you looked at http://www.branchline-trains.com ? They have Sears Catalog homes and other catalog style houses.

Thanks Bruce, I'll check them out, I have looked at every place except Branchline. I have looked at their structures on the hobby shop sites, but never thought to go direct.

A little visible progress is being made, but yard work (the outside kind) has taken over for now with grass growing an inch a day, and had to get the garden tilled and planted so layout work is spotty at best. I've been working on the greenhouses and tennis courts "out the holler". I am even surprising myself how things seem to just fall in place. Thanks to Barney for some of the pictures.

I really like that first shot Charlie! Looks like Pennsey railroading to me! Thumbsup The buildings and details in the other two are great too. I don't think I've ever seen a greenhouse nursery on a layout before. Cool!

I was surprised at the "near-completion" of the areas in the photos. You are really making some progress. Those scenes are coming together nicely, and they look terrific. Great job! The colors blend together well, and look realistic.

In that second photo, is that the Northern Lights peeking over the mountain on the left?

Actually everything is placed haphazardly (is that even a word? Goldth ) until I get time to build the actual houses. The "Northern lights" are a result of not noticing a Photoshop correction.

Re: Charlie b's layout - Charlie B - 06-09-2011

Thanks Kevin. I'm getting it roughed in, then I will fine tune as I get time. It is nice to be able to run trains (HO that is) once again.

Charlie--- your video is a great way to showcase your layout, locomotives and rolling stock--- very nicely done Thumbsup

Re: Charlie b's layout - Charlie B - 06-09-2011

I'd do better if you and Wayne were running the trains so I could do better video. Icon_lol Thanks for the compliments, I needed a boost. I've been in the railroad doldrums for a couple weeks, but I'm snapping out now. Too hot for much outside work so I can head for the cool train room.

Charlie, that video tells a story very nicely. I was also impressed with the sound in that it was not overpowering - it was lost in the background, just like it would be in a large open space in real life. The whistle work was also a great touch.

I'd added a separate pusher several times on my old layout (for fun), and it's a tough job to get the power right on both for one person. You can cheat and consist them, but that's, well, cheating. Smile
