First car is ready for unloading. Need a much larger forklift to proceed!

Definitely need a bigger forklift! Big Grin Also, don't forget to unload equally from both sides, or the centerbeam will turn over.

In the previous photos of the brick buildings, the clutter looks good. Stuff like that really makes the scene come alive.

Re: Freelance 2012 - faraway - 04-30-2012

That building became surplus after the tank of the bakery kit got that spot.

Cut down to 1" depth and a large gate for the forklift with load and it fits at the new position. Waiting for a bigger forklift. The car on the left has been unloaded by hand!

And the complex made of three buildings.

Re: Freelance 2012 - lajry - 04-30-2012

Good to see you "paved" the other side so the bulkheads can be unloaded the "right way". Smile Was a sawman at a cinder block place & went to pick up two stacked pallets. Forgot to tilt the load back so of course it tipped over forward taking off! So teach your forklift operator well. LOL

Reinhard & all brick building modelers. Saw Jimmy Simmons of Monster Model & Laser Works at our NMRA LA Div. SpringRail meet 4/21/12 . He sells laser cut wood panels that are great for making brick building as well as building kits, details items, etc. He did a great demo on painting & weathering them including how to do the mortar coloring. His website is:

That looks very good. I will sure come back to Monster Model when I will do another brick battle. Thanks for pointing to their homepage.

That good old guy is deeply depressed. He got an email that the bigger forklift ordered yesterday is out of stock. He has to unload another car by hand tomorrow....

Very good impressions of a very well modelled layout, Reinhard.
I love to see you pictures dreaming to run a train with my models however unfortunately you modeled the wrong era for these. What a pity!

Reinhard,

The added details on the outside of the buildings really look great. Where did you find the gas meters?

Larry

Larry, the gas meter is from "Scale Structures LTD" part # 2097. I got it from Walthers. There are a large (mine) and a small (not in stock) listed.

Re: Freelance 2012 - faraway - 05-01-2012

There was an empty spot between the commercial strip and the grain service. I borrowed the front wall of an unused building, weathered it, covered the ground dark and placed some junk iron. The junk iron will become rusty within the next days. It got painted with iron powder in solvent and an oxydation fluid wash.

Re: Freelance 2012 - Ralph - 05-01-2012

Actual accelerated rusting?! Now that's brilliant! Thumbsup

Re: Freelance 2012 - faraway - 05-04-2012

The dock crew is happy. The forklift arrived. Not really brand new but much better than unloading by hand! Management told them a second one is on order to do simultaneous unloading from both sides.

Between grain service and the wood industry is a new road under construction. Do not expect to much. The road will cross the tracks immediate at the yard throat. Long delays are expected when the local arrives and sorts it's cut.
