Mike, thank for the kind comment.

Added some details. The blue letter decals are in the mail. Looking forward how well the letters will align on the roof....

Re: Freelance 2013 - faraway - 02-19-2013

Got the letter decals and applied a layer of brown/black wash to the other parts of the roof. It is no fun to apply huge decals on a dull corrugated surface. There is no chance to slide the decals into the correct position.

Reinhard - a google search brings up a series of images, if you fancy printing your own decal of the Morton Salt Girl, and her history is here - Shes getting on for a hundred years old! http://www.mortonsalt.com/our-history/h ... rella-girl. Looking on Google images brings up a whole load in different sizes. Doing the words of the logo in MSWord and a suitable typeface on decal paer may be the best and easiest way to get the result

Jack, I did aad the wise words of rain Wink They are a must for Morton Salt!
I did see the page with the history of the UMBRELLA GIRL. It is unbelievable when you discover when you do model railroading. I am tempted to give it a try. Blank decal paper is already on the desk. Will come back post results.

Re: Freelance 2013 - shortliner - 02-19-2013

Well done with putting the "slogan" words on there Reinhard, Worship and looking forward to the young lady! I agree - it really is amazing some of the things you find on the internet, usually when looking for something else and then getting sidetracked. I have found some things previously by following links, and then never being able to remember how I got to them. I think it is becase I'm getting old, and the dead brain cells run out of my ear overnight and leave a little pile of dust on the pillow in the morning! Confusedhock:

I wondered what that dust was in my bed. Here's me thinking it was biscuit crumbs Wink

Re: Freelance 2013 - faraway - 02-19-2013

Here we go with the little girl.
All decals (large and small letters as well as the girl) have no really transparent background. They are all some kind of yellow. I hope a layer of dull coat will compensate that a little. Problem is the weather below freezing point and snow is preventing the rattle can at the balcony.

Reinhard, a most excellent job Worship Worship Worship You should send a copy of that to them!

Re: Freelance 2013 - jwb - 02-20-2013

Be careful, Jack (and Reinhard). John Allen had a bright idea in the mid-1940s and cut the lettering for a lumber yard on his layout from the Yellow Pages. He was so tickled with the result that he sent a photo to MR, which published it. He then sent a copy of MR to the lumber yard. The lumber yard sent a lawyer to visit Allen to tell him to take the logo off his layout!

Very effective look .....really adds to the scene .

Re: Freelance 2013 - faraway - 02-20-2013

In fact I did think for a second about sending them a photo but at least under German copy right law it is more wise to duck and cover. I think I will edit offending photos not to get into trouble. Looks like photobucket needs some time to make changes available.

Some interesting buildings, you say you have no skill to scratch build building, just modify,is'nt that a skill trying to make a kit fit a location??

What I mend is the lack of skill to do brick buildings from scratch. I have not the patience and precision required to get the bricks proper aligned. I love to do scratch build buildings close to (but not exact after) prototypes with none or only a little and simple brick components. In fact I love to do that much more than kit bashing and ending up with pure phantasy structures.

Re: Freelance 2013 - Ralph - 02-20-2013

I had to read all of the recent posts to understand what happned to the great looking lettering and logo on the roof of that building! The copyright story reminds me of a tale I read years ago in Model Railroader about a modeler writing to a business for some paper images of their logo so he could use them as signs on his layout. The company wrote back with a refusal, but the reply was written on their letterhead that included just the logo he was looking for!
