Re: Free Layout Design Help - dingbat - 11-18-2016

Hi Garry,

Why won't you just drop the whole layout by 3 or 4 inches to avoid the grade?

Take care,
Rob.

Re: Free Layout Design Help - dingbat - 11-18-2016

Hi Harry,

It would be nice to have an accurate layout plan to see how much space all the structures you already have take up. Either that, or send measurements for their foot prints so I can make allowances. It is hard to plan a layout for structures already built without having that information.

Take care,
Rob.

Re: Free Layout Design Help - dingbat - 11-18-2016

Hi Garry,

Adding cross-overs and engine escapes to the staging would render them useless since they are too short. Whole trains shouldn't be stored there, just the cars coming onto the layout. There's also no place for an engine facility, since I used all available space for the industries. With small layouts, compromises always have to be made.

I made all other changes as best as I could, here's the finished plan:

Take care,
Rob.

Hi Harry,

OK, thanks. I think I have everything I need so I will stop bothering you, and start designing.

Take care,
Rob.

Re: Free Layout Design Help - railroader9731 - 11-19-2016

Would it be possible to do a double deck in this space?

Re: Free Layout Design Help - dingbat - 11-19-2016

Hi Harry,

It's possible to do a double deck in most spaces, it depends more on how you want to get between decks.

Take care,
Rob.

Re: Free Layout Design Help - railroader9731 - 11-19-2016

I suspect a helix is best for a continued run? Then if so perhaps in corner with angled wall? But leave that to you.

Re: Free Layout Design Help - dingbat - 11-19-2016

Hi Harry,

Leave it up to me? You're asking me to do another design for you?

Take care,
Rob.

Re: Free Layout Design Help - railroader9731 - 11-19-2016

well id double deck is possible id like to see what it looks like and perhaps try it. This may free up some space for other scenery and not look so cramped so to speak.

Re: Free Layout Design Help - dingbat - 11-19-2016

Hi Harry,

I'm sorry, but I really have too many projects on the go to keep testing out possibilities that perhaps you might use, which to be honest, could be endless for any given space. I just don't have that kind of time to devote to one design project, and is not what I intended when I started this thread.

Take care,
Rob.

Re: Free Layout Design Help - railroader9731 - 11-19-2016

That's ok Rob I just was looking for possibly various ideas to enjoy the ideas you draw up on a double decker, but if you like keep this in mind incase you run out of projects ( LOL ). Thank you for you efforts on this Ho layout.
