I just received an email from the old site asking me to go through all of my old posts, 4,755 posts, and remove any links in said posts to commercial sites. I haven't been to the site since I left to join this one other than to see what P.M. they were notifying me about. I guess they can ban me. I certainly don't have the time to fulfill their request, and I don't want to waste that much time with them regardless.

Huh. Wonder if I will get the same email. That would be a lot of posts to go through, and would take a ton of time. I guess the time it would take a current admin would eat into their profits.

They want you to do their job now?
E-Mail them back and say "Sure...I'll do your job...You pay me!"
Then ask for an exuburant amount.

They should be able to do a mass dump if it's a problem. Likely they want to retain as many of the old posts as they can while removing commercial content. Seems like they should have better things to do. 8-)

Just mind boggling to think that someone there has the time to sort out who has links and who doesn't, and which links are "commercial" and which aren't. It still blows me away that they think these things are hurting their bottom line.

It's even more mind boggling that they would expect us to do it for free!!!!
I know what will hurt their "bottom" line. . . . a jab in the ___ with a sharp stick!
Actually, if they should send me "that email/PM", I would respond, " To my knowledge, there are no "commercial links" is any of my posts. If you would provide a list of what you think are problems, I would be happy to remove them."
Let them review 4,000+ posts for commercial links, I don't have the time or the desire. Besides, they bought the "product", improving it is no longer my responsibility.

Ya know, just a thought, but they have limited members to 24 hours to edit their posts. How does anyone expect that someone will search their posts, find a forbidden link on an old post, then maybe PM someone on Z to delete that link since they member surely can't.

"Let me see.....Oh....I think I found one....No..wait...Hmmm...Is that a forbidden link? Nah....
Next post....
Is that a forbidden link?...Maybe......Nah..Leave it.
Well...Thats one hour...maybe I'll take a break....Oh look... Mythbusters is on...I'll do this later...
Wait...I can't watch TV...I've only twenty-three hours to get rid of the forbidden links. Let see..have to mow the lawn, change the oil in the car....Go to work,,Yeah thats a big one....Better Half wants me to hang those pictures..Pick up the kids at soccer practice.....
Why am I doing their job?
To hell with them........"
Oh yeah..that'll work....

I'm curious if anyone else received a similar email, or if they came to their senses and realized that they were asking for the impossible? I figure if they were sending the emails out alphabetically, and then changed their minds I might receive an email that almost no one else received.

I have not heard anything yet. But that could be because the announcement went to a spam filter or possibly to an email address that I rarely use.

Nope Russ, never received one. Frankly, I was surprised that you got one in the first place. If they sent out a blanket email to all members, there would have been some 35,000 emails. When Mikey and I were there, we wanted to send out a message to everyone to explain what was going on there, and they told us we needed for them (Crowdgather) to send it out, which they did after it was edited to their liking. What I'm saying is that maybe MS spotted something in one of your posts and wanted to make a point to you. If it was in your siggy, he could have changed that easily. If it was in the body, he is has the power to edit an old post, you couldn't if you wanted to.
