I just noticed this feature this morning. I tried it in the Hobo campfire and nothing happened. Probably not a big deal but just thought I'd mention it.

Tom,
There are two ways to mark forums read. In the Hobo's camp forum for instance, there are several sub-forums in there, as well as the main forum. Clicking on "mark sub-forums read" will only clear the sub-forums, clicking on, "mark topics read" will clear the threads in the main forum. There hasn't been a post in any of the sub-forums there for over two months which is why you probably didn't see any change.
Let me know if that's not what you're talking about.

Not a problem. One way to mark all forums as being read is from the main page. Go to "Board Index" and click on "mark forums read". That resets every forum and all sub-forums.
