I got this idea from the Annacis Island http://goo.gl/maps/NUu7z western transload . Here is a couple of pic's it's a work in progress . It is built out of a Donut box , skews , toothpicks , coffee stirs & some wire!
I'm really interested in what you're doing with your layout. Do you have a track plan? What industries is your shortline serving? It seems like you are doing a compilation of all of the really neat features of New Jersey shortlines (NICE!!! ). I, for one, would like to see a thread about the Passaic River Terminal Railroad.

I don't have any track planning software ? Maybe I can take some pics of my industries & transload yard & show you what they are!! I only work on the layout on sundays & the 1st thing i have to do is switch some cars thats what i like to do!!!
Great work there mate, really like the facility that you've built. I tried to find this on Bing and it is interesting that on Bing maps the facility has been torn down, and they appear to be transloading from boaxcars into 20 foot ISO containers. But I cannot get in their close enough to see what they are transloading.
Good work none the less though. Love the loader cover, I would never have thought of that until you pointed it out.
THanks for the idea.
In fact that whole area as shown is really modellable in a small space; either as a tuning fork, or an Inglenook.
Hmmmm.... ideas, ideas, ideas....

I have bought some paper container kits [in both HO and N] at one hobby shop I go to.
The brand is DigCom, Australian made. Website www.scaleworkshop.com.au
Andrew - they don't come cheaper than these - just need some time invested keeping away from the "idiot-box"!

Outstanding!
