Agree with all the comments about backgrounds. My take on this is if it's my home layout something plain that doesn't draw attention is better as it isn't really what my focus of attention when operating. At an exhibition its expected more I think for it to all gel together more as people watch it as a vista. Of course many layouts only look their best when they are photographed and the point of perspective is controlled. Outside of that point the perspective isn't right.
With peninsulas it's not possible to have a backdrop unless it's double sided with the backdrop down the center but personally I don't like that as you still have a corner in the sky at the end of the background.
All in all I really like the feel of this layout and will be buying the GMR 2015. It's inspired me to drop a lot of my track work and have a simpler design on my new layout. I just hope I can improve my skills to get the look I want!
