Here are a few more photos of the area.
Track leading to the return loop is visible until it reaches the right side of this raised station where the RDC is located.

This angle isn't available to the viewer unless they lean over the layout but it gives you an idea of the "canyon" (as opposed to a tunnel) I created using building flats on the back drop and narrow depth buildings in front of the track.

I did completely cover a short section of track with a mill building the track tunnels through. I tried to lead the eye away from this with the highway bridge. This area has been "roughed in" and still needs some refinements. That's a derailed train on the side.

Funny you should mention cement plants. I have an improbably large cement plant that covers some other hidden track on a straight section of my layout.
