I think you're better off doing this from an Athearn SD40-2 and going with a UP ex-SP or CNW SD38-2 for the Kato unit.

And I'd love to see photos!! There are SD38-2s at West Colton, but they don't leave the hump -- they don't even get as far as Pepper Avenue. The bowl trimmers are SD40-2s.
