Pix of the Northern at the T.O. Railway Heritage Centre
#4
Here are some more pics ....

Today, my family and I went downtown (in Toronto) and walked through the new Toronto Railway Historical Heritage Centre (which is still under construction), at the old CPR Roundhouse near the CN Tower (which you can see in some of these pics).

The main highlights are obviously the Northern 4-8-4 steam loco (which was recently moved to the roundhouse/museum) and the restored turntable. You can also see a Canadian National Diesel (GP7) next to the Northern. They're also laying narrow gauge track for a miniature live steam railway which hopefully will be running by the end of the summer. They've also moved Toronto's historic Don Station and a signal box to the roundhouse park, and the miniature railway will weave around these buildings.

In addition to the railway museum, there is a Leon's furniture store in one end of the roundhouse and Steam Whistle Brewery at the other end! Both are supporters of the railway museum.

My sons and I could end up visiting this site quite a bit in the future once it opens to the public.

Cheers,
Rob
