Laying Peco code 55 track using caulk: problems

Code 55 doesn't have a "sliding rail" since the tie design is different than code 80. Neither rail really slides, but one side does have breaks in the plastic under the rail so it can flex. That would be the side I assume you are referring to.
I do use rail nippers (as I stated)m and I do cut a couple of ties off the end (you have to do this). I haven't filed, but probably will.

I'm waiting for the CA and see how that works. Doing double duty is ridiculous (laying the track twice).
