Laying Peco code 55 track using caulk: problems

ONE of the rails HAS to slide as the inner and outer radiuses (radii..??) of the curved track are different, making their corresponding circumferences different lengths. The ties are cut so the track can bend. If you don't believe this, try bending a step ladder into a curve....
