UP converted a bunch of MP SD40-2's to SD38-2's for yard service. UP even bought a McCloud River RR SD38 to rebuild into hump service.
This picture was taken in Roseville August 3rd, 2002. I don't know how many are still there because they received some 6 axle Genset units a few years ago.
