Throwing your weight around...

I have a small electric locomotive ( known as an ALP46), that has no commercially adaptable frame for it that i can find (bachmann's HHP-8 has the right wheel base, but is otherwise wrong). Because it is small, i wanted to add as much weight as possible, especially considering these are known to pull 12 car trains of large bi-level commuter cars.

would it be wise to use lead, or should i pursue other options for a frame and maybe use lead to help make it heavier?

Lead would be way too soft, and the frame would be unstable. I would try making a brass frame, and filling the spaces between frame members with lead.
