An Athearn Genesis NS GP40-2 arrived this week and it got a Tsunami sound decoder too. I had (past tense) a concern with the jump start of the Tsunami decoder on my first installations but that could be cured with an individual step table. I start with a value of 1 and increment by 1 for a the first 5 steps and increments of 2 for the remaining steps. "Top speed" is a value of 51 in CV 94. That is a nice slow step table for a switching layout. The CV3 for acceleration delay is set to 10 (CV4 is 5) to ease the very first (jump) step from 0 to 1. It is not a world class crawler but it is a sufficient coupling speed.
Global sound (CV128) is down to 50 and my be reduced even more. That is loud enough in a small silent room.
