Narrow Gauge in the Black Hills
#10
It looks like DC#1 was delivered from Porter as an 0-6-0T. There are two photos in Fielder, one showing #1 pulling two passenger cars in 1889, a second showing the wreck of #1 after 1890 spring flooding. In both photos, it's running 0-6-0T configuration without a tender. A 1899 photo shows it rebuilt as a standard 0-6-0 pulling a 4-wheel tender.

I can't find any pictures of DC#4 (the other Porter). It wasn't an original DC purchase. From 1879-1889 it was the main switcher at the Boston and Colorado Smelting Co. in Argo, CO, and from 1889-1894 was part of the Denver, Utah and Pacific roster (DU&P #3). Fielder claims it was "rebuilt" as an 0-6-0 in 1902, implying that the DC took delivery of it as a 2-6-0, but she's a little cryptic on this point.
