In any event, those overgrown tracks are now full of fresh clean ballast. When it was first laid down, it was very similar to what you used. However, I think most of the line is that darker gray color.

Those photos I took don't show the ballast I used very well. It's more gray rather than the tan tone in those photos. I have some more ballast samples on the way to me so I can still experiment.
