By putting a gantry crane on the team track & there can be coil cars, flat cars & gondolas carrying steel products like coils, beams, plates, etc. The loads could be coming in or going out. And they would be hauled in or out in trucks. Attached a USGS map of the ATSF Vernon & Los Angeles Junction Ry Fruitland Teams. The Santa Fe side handles steel products using a transfer dock, gantry crane & ramp. The LAJ side handles flour & grain in airslides & covered hoppers. More recently the LAJ side sends out dirty dirt containers in well cars. If your plan only has a narrow space for a team track, pick what ever feature you want to put on your layout. My place will be 2' wide so will have room for both team tracks. The two teams can be seen in Bing & Google aerials by using "2695 Fruitland Ave 90058".
