~~UPDATE FEBRUARY 25, 2009~~

I took the handrails off since i bought a new set for this loco anyways. Chris pointed out that he had thought this was a SD70MAC instead of a SD70M. Its actually neither of those, this loco is a SD75I lol. No problem, I also got a set of SD70/75 handrails, so i can just use that set and paint it BNSF Silver for this model.

The reason i pulled all the handrails off and not just the ones on the front and rear (which needed to be replaced anyways because they were broken off on the bases of the rails) is because there were glue marks at the bases where the rails attached to the loco's walkways. So i sanded them down and now all i have to do is repaint the sides BNSF red and touch up the Fuel Tank that i accidentally brushed up against lol. I also need to paint the grab irons so ill do this too....

Once it is re-pained, i will also need to re-puncture the wholes for the handrails as some of them got covered when i sanded of them, and im sure some more will get plugged with paint when i re-paint the sides of the walkways and the front and rear "porches", no biggy

Here are a couple pics with the locos handrails removed and the sides, front and rear sanded down. I also did some minor sanding on the roof of the cab next to the antenna and on one of the sunshades to remove some glue marks. This only has one sunshade so i will also need to get another and add it on in the BNSF Red (which by the way i need paint to match the BNSF red so if anyone knows what to use, id appreciate some help on that). I think i might also replace the antenna and add some more details to the front of the loco... Thats later lol

~~Update March 11, 2009~~

I did a little work on this engine, first i painted the sanded areas. All that needs to be done now is the re-painting of the fuel tank on the one side. i also painted some of the grab irons. The ones that still need to be painted are all the ones on the rear of the loco. i need some silver paint (on order) to finish those off. I also installed both sides of the handrails along the sides, with the ends painted BNSF yellow just like the prototype. The front and rear handrails will be installed as soon as i can get some more tiny drill bits (#78 and #79, which are also on order with the paint, should be here by early next week). So with that said, here are a few pics:

~~Update, March 17, 2009~~

Today i finished installing and painting the handrails on this unit. I also painted the rear grab irons with ATSF Silver, so they are not bare metal anymore. This loco is nearing completion. I also put the first coat of repair paint on the fuel tank, it will take a few more coats to cover the brushup with the sandpaper that removed the paint down to the bare plastic lol. Here are some quick pics of the loco as it is right now:
