Freelance 2013-2 (MAW)
Hi Reinhard

I'm not in Sweden, I am in the UK near Nottingham. I don't think I'm who you're thinking of.

Here's mt attempt at a billboard with Ryan pervading over my layout....it's basically foam board, balsa strip and a dowel for the main post.

My interest is the LAJ so the earlier versions of Freelance really do float my boat!
I love the track plan and it has given me ideas for a permanent layout either in my loft or in an outbuilding.

Keep it coming.....

Colin I like what you did there, nice work. I don't mean to steal Reinhard's thunder on this outstanding thread, but where did you get that tank? Make/model scratch built?

Thanks

Hi Rattled,

It's a model produced by Bachmann and released in the UK as part of their Scene Craft Range

Bachmann Branchline 44-054 Concrete works - Chemical Silo

It is no longer available but I found a couple in a shop an snapped them up! I'm not sure where you are or if it is available outside of the UK (if you're not in the UK that is).

The billboard is very well done. The brown part below the picture is very realistic. I saw it frequent at the prototype. The atmosphere of the layout is very well south west.

I'll start a separate thread on my layout in the next couple of days so Reinhard can have his thread back Icon_lol .

The warehouse at the rear needs to have more details and weathering to take away the white slab look.

Good Colin. Added these latest to your "LAJ LAYOUT - COLIN WOOLEY" folder in my Picasa along w/ other LAJ inspired layouts. BTW all those trucks on the bridge are so SoCal! there's always more of them than cars on our streets & freeways. LOL

The east part of my layout lacked some structure at the ground. The tracks, the road and the green was not organized in any way. I put some already used pieces of fence to mark a possible property boarder of the grain industry. All of a sudden gets the area a structure. It is amazing how little things can changes an overall impression. I will do the fences in a proper way tomorrow. It is 2:16am and time to go to bed now.

Reinhard, it'S going to be among my favorite version of your layout. Nothing is overdone... it's feels like real railroading to me.

Always great to see your progress. BTW, your grain elevator turned out nicely.

About 12 hours later is the fence set, some green added and three maple trees planted. I got those small trees with the intention to use them in the semi foreground. They are more a landmark than shrubs but they are still small enough not to interfere with the 0-5-0 while switching. Still 7 in the shelf to be planted.
