The set is made by New Ray(mostly die-cast autos is what they make) Thanks for the links and info on the prototypes
That loco is the first European style loco I have. Will post some pics of my other G battery op sets later most of them are by New Brite. Two of the most interesting sets I have are the Keebler set and the Lionel G Polar express.

This set looks a lot like the Christmas Train Set I have, any idea of the manufacturer?

The set with loco 8001 and the set in the last photo with the yellow gondola car look very similar to mine.
Here's a "Dad" Xmas joke;
What railroad does Santa use when delivering Xmas Presents?
Santa Fe of course!
Get It.
Be prepared for many groans and head slaps.
Hey I did warn you it was a "Dad joke".

PS nearly forgot, the Lego Duplo people work out just the right size for these G scale trains, although putting them in boxcars like my son does is probably not the most politically correct thing to do given certain Nazi activities during WW11, but kids in their innocence dont know this.

Mr Fixit:
they could be part of the 40&8 -- 40 hommes, 8 chevaux that French boxcars took in WW1.
The trains look a lot like the Disney ones that we bought. No brand beyond Disney and made in China, but there is a CE cast into the bottom of the coach.

In model railroading, there are between six and two hundred ways of performing a given task.
Most modellers can get two of them to work.

The CE logo that you speak of basically means that the item is Compliant European standards thats all.
