While I am building the next section of benchwork I will also be working on the Hill Top Cemetery. This scene will depict an old rural cemetery ( I hope ) I started out with the hill.
I shaped the foamboard, painted it brown and added some rock retaining walls.

Good question Mike, The gate to the cemetery on my layout will be facing towards the backdrop. In real life the cemetery has a gradual walkway up to the gate. The coffin had to be carried in. I was going to get a picture of the real place but it is on private land and I didn't feel like trespassing.

If you go to Bing Maps then after finding the location go to bird's eye view and there might be a very good view of your cemetery.
I find them better than Google Earth at times.

I sliced up some 1/8 thick Luan into strips and added Micro-Mark self stick rock sheet to them for the cemetery walls.
